Well their 2-5" prediction panned out pretty well, got about 4" 20F outside & clear right now, wind hasn't kicked up yet. Supposed to be teens over night & subzero wind chill. Oak in the boiler & 70 inside.
Had a couple inches of white stuff this morning. Enough I had to do some pushing at work. Was cold and a chilly wind all day, only into the teens. Down to 2f tonight so glad to have the stove choo choo-omg along with some dry hackberry. Back to the 50’s daytime and 30’s over nights after tomorrow so then just one fire a day. Sleet and snow this afternoon. Currently 20° with a wind chill in the low teens. The Hardy has a nice load of red & white oak keeping the house at a comfortable 70°.
Yeah I hear ya there. Being a small time hobby farmer it can be VERY frustrating when rain misses me haha. You probably get some good lake affect snow being on the eastern side of Michigan Lake though eh?
Friggin' a there bud! I'm kind of jealous of your guys' snow up there in the U.P. Being a snowmobiler and all...I kind of like the fluffy white stuff!
I want some apple! Don't hardly ever get that for firewood. We still gotta meet up some time there guy. My father still lives in Hartland. I think that's where you were at if I remember right.
48* os...70* is.....no snow or mix like the guessers were sayin. By the time the cold hits...precip will be done. Got up to 62* yesterday.....started a fire before bed ..... prepping for junk that was suppose to come n it got too hot in here in the early hours....temps are suppose to start dropping.....20 s by late afternoon....guess we'll see....upper teens tonight..Oak,hickory n ash on standby...
It's 33 outside/66 inside here. Maple in the stove. We got a couple inches of snow overnight. Snow/sleet forecast for today/tomorrow then sunny.
5f here, dropping a few more by dawn, probably close to zero. Wanted to keep the hearth mass hot, so couldn't resist a sugar maple blaze built on some nice coals from last night's fires.
Red oak and hickory in the house and popular and hickory in the shop. Looks like about 4" of white stuff on the ground.
Same here, 38° now, staying in the mid 30's until this evening. Then down to the teens overnight. Rain/mix/snow shuts off around noon. I've got a little cherry burning now, but tonight will be an overnight fire for sure. Funny, next week's forecast has highs in the 50's.
16 deg. feels like 1 deg. high 26 deg. Not going to get above freezing for next 36 hours. White oak, maple, popular in stove. 70 deg in house. Life is good.
12F here this morning with somewhere around 8-10” of the white stuff here. Pretty cold for November 12. Beech and what looks like a few small pieces of Oak keeping things toasty warm inside.
No lake effect here. Too far from the lake. We're over 100 miles to it. Actually, the lake effect drops off a lot by the time it gets to Grand Rapids and then it drops off fast from there.
