Every Saturday I go the transfer station and I’m always on the prowl for wood. There is almost always something there but no saws allowed, understandably. This week there was these ash logs and some pieces of oak. Ash looks like it is a victim of EAB. I got it split and stacked. It’s ready to burn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice grab. I’m always on the lookout too. Some weeks are fruitful and some are not. If they allowed saws I could probably easily source all my wood needs from there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good score! I like lengths because they are easier to grab than rounds, you can tip them in. Always nice when they are ready to burn!
NICE score sir! My dump wont let you cut and you are not supposed to take any either but i sneak some out. The guy had let me come back once to grab a load thar was dumped while i was there getting dirt once. Another time he let me cut. Last couple times he mustve been in a bad mood as i asked and he said no. Wallingford subs out to a company to handle that part of the dump. The guy told me last time his company lost the contract and a new one was taking over. That was a couple months ago. Have to make a trip down there to see. Our recycling is almost full!
Speaking from experience, it is still a good practice to wait another year before burning that ash even though the bugs did their thing.
I totally agree. I always try to season stuff at least through one summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would love to find a tree service dump near me...so far no luck. I only get offers of free pine and silver maple. Another wrench in my machine is that I can't get a tree service truck up into my back yard. My wife would kill me if I had them dump in the front. Especially for how long it takes me to get to certain things....
