So, I have the day off for a Dr. appointment and hopefully some time in the woods for some black powder hunting at an evening stand.

So, I figured that maybe the 372 would like to do a little noodling...

    Before:

    After: 20191107_084324.jpg

She spit noodles for a good 10 yards.

I've never done much of that, noodling that is. Maybe that needs to change.

Then I spied, behind me, that the top had broken out of a standing dead red oak that had been hit by lightning 2 years ago.

So, the 346 had to play too...

The results = most of a carryall bucked, and 4 logs for the pile. And that does not include the noodled rounds.

You certainly have the right tools for the job... Great pics!

That one oak you dropped, will be perfect firewood. Tall, straight and not too big around. Nice woods too!

Nice. Nothing better than time spent making firewood whether day off or not. Im not a big fan of noodling either, but have really started to like it for big gnarly chunks as i hand split. Makes for some "neat" logs rather than sledge and wedge.

    Thanks guys!

I had a great 10 pointer working a scrape line as close as 70 yards out from my stand. He never presented a decent shot. But, I was able to watch him for a while. It was nerve wracking, but that is why it is called hunting and not killing.

I hope to get on him again next time the wind is right to approach that area. Pretty tricky and I've been avoiding going to that stand until the conditions were favorable.
