Been wanting a new splitter for my firewood needs. After much research, think I will go with the Husky 22 ton from TSC. Seems like a good splitter for the money, new guy here so tell me what you guys think about it.
    Thanks Tom

My huskee eats wood and doesn't gain a pound. Get a spare sparkplug and your good for a long time.

Welcome to the FHC bunch WVhunter. Sounds like splitting wood is about to get a lot easier for you. That Husky 22 ton seems to be very popular.

Best thing is they hold their value well also, you can use them for years and still sell them for not a whole lot less than you paid for them new. :)

I have a 22 ton Bear Cat and it's handled everything that I've thrown into it so far! 22 ton seems to be enough to do what you want.

22 ton is a solid machine. Just make sure you double-check the tightness on everything because the guy who assembled it at TSC may or may not have done a great job.

Mine has split a LOT of wood the past 3 years and has been trouble-free.

I have the 22 ton from TSC and has split everything I threw at it. Even a 44" pin oak. Like said above get a spare spark plug and change that out eventually. And keep an eye on the oil, those engines do go though some oil. But a great machine. I think specs say to change the plug and oil at minimum every 200 hours or once a year.

I can second that. When I brought mine home the wheel came off. There is a thread around here about that.

My 22 ton Speeco still going strong.
Cradle beam is great if you split horizontal
Watch the folding tongue stand, it can be a finger pinching SOB

You'll love having a splitter. But don't toss out the maul quite yet.
It's cool to save a few straight knot-less rounds for the maul to bust every once in awhile.

Funny that I read about having a spare spark plug. Our 20 ton MTD is over 20 years old and has split well over 300 cord of wood. It still has the original spark plug. In fact, our repair cost so far has been zero. The only cost has been changing oil and filter. I did add a boat jack so we could do away with that stand they come with. As Dave stated, it is a finger pincher.

My home made splitter comes in around 20 ton and splits everything. I haven't found one I can't split yet so that should do you just fine!

I stopped by my local Tractor Supply today, they had 1 22ton Huskee in the back, not put together yet. I told them I wanted it and would pick it up first thing Saturday morning. I asked about the sale price and they agreed to let me have it for that, I was very happy with that. Looking forward to picking it up.
