Yup! Same thing once I get down to the cottage during the winter. A piece of Styrofoam insulation (blue board or similar) to sit on has made things unbelievably better...just remember to cut a hole in it!!! Not mine.... just an image off the internet. I wouldn't be able to live with that skid mark.
Did somebody say shiit?!? It was little cold on the buttocks this morning. I'm lazy and did not want to grab a bucket of water from the spring and use a 1/2 gal of rv antifreeze.
When I was a lot younger there weren't too many "Brewer's Retail" outlets that had cold beer (most high brow folks that made the rules frowned upon anyone buying Beer anyway and they thought that cold beer was just a temptation that was too great I guess). So we enterprising young lads that we were, would put one 2-4 in the fridge to cool, and buy another one (which was room temp) to drink in the meantime. Labatt's Blue was the best (that was drinkable) at that temp. However, there was always someone who'd bring along Molson's Export and believe me, there is nothing more foul than warm Molson's Export - BLECH!
Nothing like the 13" screen! We upgraded to a newer tv and had the fancy clicker that made a sound to change the channels! I think it might have been 19" color! Oh yah!
I remember going to " monkey wards " for a class with the family to learn how to use a microwave. High tech chit brother. I could cook the hellll out of fresh veggies after that- even with cheese!
Guess I'm old. I remember our first family radio, phonograph (wind up), tv, telephone (rotary dial on party line), etc. I also remember our old family cars. When I was real young it was a model T. Then the old man went modern and stepped up to a Model A. I also remember when the old man put running water into the house. Not only did we not have to go outdoors to the potty but I also did not have to go to the neighbor's for water several times per day. Oh how I hated mother's wash days.
I'm liking this remember theme! If only the current generation and past couple of generations had an understanding of having to work for stuff, the simplicity of things, family time, Sunday supper ( yes supper not dinner), things would be better. Now it's gimi gimi I want I want NOW and I deserve....
Sitting in a bar one night in the Ottawa Valley an old timer came in, sat down and ordered a warm Labatt's 50. Waitress brought him one from a case. Old timer said, no I want a warm 50. Waitress brought out a large bowl of hot water to place his bottle in. After several minutes, he took his 50 out and drank it.
He then spent the next 46 hrs. sitting in the CHIT house before he headed back into the bush to cut some more trees...................................
