Nothing came through so I planned this out on my own (I’m not exactly a builder). It took considerably longer than I hoped but we are happy with the result. All material minus 10 eight foot 1x3’s and the roof were trashed picked out of dumpsters from a new development being built. He already sold $30 worth since this morning.

Is that a cherry tree with a big 'ol black knot ?

The only one I've cut open was powdery/crumbly dry rot inside.

Cool he is doing ng something to make some money. He looks happy and he is useing his body to do good hard work.

One question, why are there little small cubbies for the wood? Why not just a few large openings? Seems like it would of taken way more time to build all those into the rack.

    Looks awesome, nice job.

Just guessing, but maybe sells by cubby.

jrider that is a great firewood stand. Did your son help with the construction? Did he sell wood last year? I think I recall a post before.

The big cubbies are $10 and the small are $5. Makes it very easy for his customers plus he knows how much money should be in his lockbox by counting the empty cubbies. I wasn’t worried about how long it took to construct or how much lumber it took to do it.

Oh heck yeah he helped. I wouldn’t have done it all on my own since it’s his business but I also couldn’t keep him away if I tried. The few times I worked on it without him, he got upset with me. Haha! He has learned how to read a tape measure, run a cordless drill, and how to safely use a chop saw.
His little sister assisted where possible, including helping to paint it.

He did have two minor thefts but he had many people over pay so he’s ahead of the game. Through the local Facebook pages, the community has rallied around him. In fact, when my wife took him to the local hardware store to buy the paint, the paint guy recognized him as “the kid who sells wood!” That’s the town next to us with a population of just over 23,000

Excellent teamwork of entrepreneurship and know-how! You’re gonna be able to get an idea on business ends of things based on what people want. I remember I did sell a little during the summer and little bit of fall. Not much past that. Good for you guys!

with the smile on his face, and no doubt his love for his dad, no matter the cost or the amount of time it took to build it, i'd say it was well worth it all.
