Welcome to FHC shik , glad to have you aboard. Looks like you're off on the right foot with wood heat. Nicely done.
WOW! I lived south of you in Keswick. Moving out this way was the best thing I've ever done. The GTA is just way too busy and I had to work way too hard just to make ends meet!
Welcome shik , you'll find the site addicting. What are winter's like where you're at? My wife has family right on the ocean cliffs in Newfoundland... Kind of bleak even in July.
They're actually not bad. On average 8 degrees warmer in the winter and 8 degrees cooler in the summer, compared to Ontario. That's why we chose this part of Nova Scotia. Once you hit Annapolis Valley it starts to turn to crap. We get very little snow and only needed to plow the driveway once last winter and that's only because I was back in Ontario and my wife didn't shovel for 3 days straight and then a plow came by haha.
Welcome to the club! If your avatar is actually a picture of you, then you look to be a ruggedly self sufficient type. You will fit right in! Your stacks certainly look nice. No need for you to envy anything! I like your cribbed section holding the smaller stuff.
Hello and welcome to the FHC shik Great to have you join us! Great looking wood and stacks. Ideal location for drying wood, but not for topcovering. Is that all hardwood/softwood or mix? Are you planning on cutting/scrounging your own wood eventually?
Welcome aboard shik. You will fit right in here. I love Life In Farmland, waiting for some new videos on that site.
Welcome! Great information and experience here. With the internet, we no longer have to climb to the mountaintop cave where Backwoods Savage lives, to gather sage advice.
Yea , I had same issues, winter winds shredded tarps or blew away anything I tried. I finally built a shed.
Welcome shik This is a great place to ask questions and get answers for your own questions. You may even learn stuff you didn't know you didn't know
Nova Scotia! Can't wait to visit there one day, looks like such a beautiful place. I believe you about the wind. But you probably get a little temperature moderation from the ocean too, no? Three cords in that climate... Wood going to be your only heat? How big of a house? What kind of stove? I'm guessing your wood supply is mostly softwoods?
