WOW! I lived south of you in Keswick. Moving out this way was the best thing I've ever done. The GTA is just way too busy and I had to work way too hard just to make ends meet!
Welcome shik , you'll find the site addicting. What are winter's like where you're at? My wife has family right on the ocean cliffs in Newfoundland... Kind of bleak even in July.
They're actually not bad. On average 8 degrees warmer in the winter and 8 degrees cooler in the summer, compared to Ontario. That's why we chose this part of Nova Scotia. Once you hit Annapolis Valley it starts to turn to crap. We get very little snow and only needed to plow the driveway once last winter and that's only because I was back in Ontario and my wife didn't shovel for 3 days straight and then a plow came by haha.

Nova Scotia! Can't wait to visit there one day, looks like such a beautiful place. I believe you about the wind. But you probably get a little temperature moderation from the ocean too, no? Three cords in that climate... Wood going to be your only heat? How big of a house? What kind of stove? I'm guessing your wood supply is mostly softwoods?
