Hey guys! I’m sure this has been talked about but I cannot make up my mind haha. I do occasional milling and have a Granberg 36” mill. I am looking to upgrade my saw to either a 395xp or ms661c. Any thoughts? I currently have a 261 and 462 so really like Stihl stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Either one fit the mold. If you were milling all the time I would say 395 but it sounds like only here and there and since you already have stihls...661 would be the ticket.
I've milled a good bit with my 394. Excellent oiler, tons of torque. Just what the mill needs. Plus... the external clutch. My vote goes to the Husky for milling.
Both saws will do the job it all depends on personal preference and support husky has better air filtration it wont clog as fast and remember to run saws at 25:1 mix for milling it makes them live longer good luck JB
Thanks guys! I am going to look at both saws (I have a store down the road that sells both) and just get a feel for them. I'll maybe even see if I can find anything used as well.
I bought a 395xp last year and love it. I haven’t gotten a mill yet but have cut a few days into wood that swallows the 36” bar. I took the rakers down and let the saw to all the work. Either saw would suit you fine. But since I have experience with the husky and not an big stihl’s that’s what I would recommend
