Pretty much been sideline since the ladder episode. Surprising how much a shin injury can hurt. Finally got out today. Cut and split some of the dead standing Red Oak for my neighbor. I would say about half a cord. She has alternate heat, but enjoys a fire in the wood stove on the cold days.
Looks ready to burn. Im curious of the moisture content. Did you put a MM to it? Nice looking work BTW. You probably have some internal bruising as well and it will be sore for some time. I know from experience. Great to see you out and about doing what us FHCer's love!
Thanks buZZsaw BRAD. I'm pretty sure there's some internal bruising. My ankle was bruised as well. So finding the right shoe to give support, but not rub the lower wound. A good portion of the wood was from the dead standing Red Oak I felled 3-4 weeks ago. Some of it was under 20%.
I fell into a dumpster several weeks ago (it was parked next to the garage i was roofing, couldnt get a ladder up and had to walk it like a balance beam to roof the bottom edge) . I slipped off and banged the inside of my knee. Luckily the dumpster was almost full and it prevented me from falling more. Id then be talking in a much higher pitched voice if you know what i mean. Cant imagine having bruised B@#%$ Knee a bit tender in one spot when i rub it just right.

Shin injuries. That’s the reason I remove the trailer hitch from the receiver when I am not pulling. Man, there’s just no flex in steel.
they were gutting part of the house so there was some timbers and boards that could be of good use. It was out of state as i was working with my contractor friend working on his daughters house. We will be putting an addition on so there will be more. So, no at the time of the fall i wasnt dumpster diving.

I recall the picture of your injury. I am glad you are feeling better. It happens so fast. I fell off a ladder hanging a deer almost three years ago. It took me almost a year to feel 100% after spraining both ankles, and one of them badly. We really can't be too careful, and I certainly don't take any job involving a ladder for granted.
