    I have these rack

on the left, you can see a shed, i normally move the wood in there during winter because i'm lazy and i dont want to deal with removing ice / snow around the rack or on the wood itself.

this winter i might want to try to remove the snow / ice around a rack and see how it goes. would it be a good idea to put some geotextile fabric around the rack (like a gift box) maybe only a row on the stop or two rows to cover all of it or it would be a bad idea?

geotextile should still breath(i think?????) that is why i'm not saying tarp

    Nice racks Spirch

    What's with all the holes?

As to the fabric, will it hold up under wind and UV rays?

Got some from the Depot for garden area, it became brittle and weeds pushed right through.

Yeah if that would is already dry and ready to go, yes, cover it up to keep it dry...the geotex you mention sounds good...anything like that would allow it to breathe. I have dealt with snow/ice/rain soaked firewood...a real PITA...

the hole in the 2x4 vertical? it was the cheap wood that homedepot was clearning because it was wrapped or with fault in it, it's for deck rail :makeitrain" as VERY cheap and it is treated wood, even better

I would think in your situation,,dry wood,, even tarps would work as long as they keep the rain, snow off. You have tarps under the wood to stop any ground moisture from working up. I’ve wrapped some nice dry wood and didn’t have a problem. Tarps May even be better. Keep it dry it will stay dry.
Green wood you’ll have a problem. Large amounts of water getting in you’ll have a problem. Moisture from the ground can cause a small problem. That usually stops quickly even without the tarps like you have.
