Might be tulip poplar. We don't have that around here, so I forget about that.

I’m not so sure- in my experience the poplar has a yellowish tint to it, and the author commented that it was heavy. Poplar is relatively light for its size. I’m betting on maple-

I'll defer to my first guess of Norway maple because of the heavy comment, and the bark.

You need therapy?! Wood hoarding IS therapy! I feel so calm and at peace after the latest haul is split and in the stacks. After a few days it wears off and I start to get the itch again. Hoard on!

Love the McCulloch video, have to show it to the wife.

I agree with the maple and also see 2 pieces of sassafras.

I agree with your comment on the hue, here more greenish, but if fresh cut, alive, it’s saturated and heavy as all get out. After a year in the stacks it does become super light.

Gotta grab it when you see it. A tree was cut up not far from my place and I'm going to incorporate my wife and her out-of-town friend on a firewood grab

Agreed not poplar, I was looking at the bark and not really focusing on the actual wood color, it was my first thought other than looks like nice shoulder wood.
