Took this a little after sunrise before I left for work this morning. Was 27 at 5:30am so started a fire for the wife before heading off. Supposed to be cool mornings all week.
55F & dropping to the high 40's again tonight. Tomorrow's supposed to be the last nice day for a while. Big storm for the weekend they say. Last few days have been absolutely perfect! Upper 60's & sun & 30's & 40's at night with low humidity. If it stayed like this for a month or so I'd be really happy. Little Pine keeping the boiler warm.
Lows in the mid 40's in Northeast Pennsylvania...Burning poplar, maple, birch and some red oak and ash that happened to be in a stack left from last year.
Loaded the stove up last night with a mixed box. Cold ideal steel with several splits of cottonwood, a few lodgepole pieces and two small pieces of almond which I started at 8:30 last night. Its 6:00 am and the stove has a STT of 300 with several big coals in it and the house is 70 degrees except for the far upstairs bedroom at 65 (with the door closed so I dont wake the kids up early). 27 degrees outside right now.
Well, well, well.....looks like winter is finally knocking on the door. Temps are taking a nosedive for the next few days, starting tonight. As long as the rain holds off, I'll be out splitting wood for SisIL and us.
Beautiful temps today with full sun. Must of been high 60s while watching my son’s soccer game. One nice thing about a mild fall. Not as cold watching the soccer games!
Went from 65F to 44 & still dropping. Windy with rain. Supposed to be really windy tomorrow. Pine in the boiler.
39° and still slowly dropping. Freeze warning for tonight and tomorrow am. Chunky monkey shorts and uglies of silver maple and ash in the stove. 71° in the house. I had to bring in the tropical plants for the season. I brought in a few plants into the garage that I hope to extend the growing season a couple weeks. Soon enough it will all be brown out there, so I want to keep the colors of the flowers as long as possible. Good thing I have my reef tank upstairs.
I could have a fire tonight in the stove as we are supposed to see our first frost overnight but we'll see how I feel tonight. Getting ready to swap out a new hot water tank shortly.
