Just watched the weather on the TMJ4. From now till Thursday maybe another 3" . Bugs and humidity are not fun here. Yard squishes when i walk in it.

Thor At least the dewpoint is dropping and being inside cause of the rain keeps me away from the bugs. Great being retired:BrianK:

Well, temps dropped all day with a steady rain & cold east wind, so here she goes. It's on! 20191002_154427.jpg

Nice! I'm guessing you got rain yesterday & last night? Kinda damp&cool? I was just going back into a thread from last year to see when our first burn was, which was Sept 25th. No fire in the woodstove yet..... maybe tomorrow? Upper 20s tonight and mid 50s tomorrow we'll see! Enjoy booms!

I just checked the long range forecast. 10/13 it is going down to 38. That will be the first fire of the season. It's going down to 42 Saturday night, but it is sandwiched between daytime highs of 64 and 63.

Wife is hinting at "first fire" tonight. She is the one that makes the call on the first one. For her, that is the official end of summer. That depresses her to no end. I on the other hand have to keep my childlike joy for "stove season" to myself for fear of being accused of "purposefully jumping the gun and ending summer". You see I am the give and taker of seasons, indeed.

I think the first will be tomorrow night/Sunday morning. Tomorrow, I'm going to be reconfiguring the living room for winter (small house). I'll probably sweep it all again, even though I know I did it this spring, just to be sure.

No fire yet, but there's a possibility we may need a short one tomorrow morning. Low temp in the upper 30s tonight.

I'm still not ready for cold. I mean, I have the wood, I just don't want the cold yet. Getting at least through mid-October before fire would be good.

50 today and wet. Several days in a row of only 50’s for high. House was 60 after work so this happened ....

    Which helped this to happen....

[IMG] this is the temp of the stove room in the basement. Main floor is up to 65 and climbing. Burning shorts and uglies and a bunch of shop cut off scraps.

It was cool and breezy in the shop today, supposed to be in the 30’s tonight. I lit her up probably just for the weekend. 6FBF5A33-923D-4FE2-86DE-1CBC7A02F29E.jpeg Stove was still filthy from last year! Lol!
