As some of you know, I have a bunch of leaves to deal with every fall, part of the deal living in the woods.

Once a year, I knock down all the vegetation along the driveways east side and the steep hill along my pole barn/house. The vegetation is about 2 feet tall since I do it only once a year and I use the mower where I can and the rest is the string trimmer. Lots and lots of string trimming because of how steep the hillside is.

I do this to be able to blow all the leaves into the woods. You can’t blow leaves through 2 foot high vegetation.

Anyway, got everything mowed and weed whacked over the last two weekends! :) Feels good that have it done!

    Here’s a few pics..

You have to be part mountain goat to weed whack this hill...

the big stacks look like they are ready for burning. Our lot is wooded as well. Hate having to blow the gutters out several times in the Fall, but it is what is is. Very neat and well kept place Fanatical1

I rent. Owned a house for years and tired of it. Expense and stress got too much. Smaller yard and landlord does it. Ill do a little. I devote more time to hoarding now!

Thanks, this year I have been focusing on the edge of the woods where the saplings start taking over all along the driveway etc.. I use Generic roundup, chainsaw cutting and the tractor to keep the growth at bay. If I don’t keep up on this, I can’t blow the leaves into the woods and have hundreds of trees bending over for sun taking over my driveway. It’s maintenance.... I got the whole left side done this year. Right side next year. :) I also live in a steel building that requires very little maintenance, so it’s no big deal to be outside doing a little. Once a year to be mowing and weed whacking a big part of the grass is not that bad...

It may not look like it, but that whole left side of the drive along the woods is all opened up and goes down to the building and then another block past the building...

One of the best secrets to my maintenance is generic roundup 41% glysulphate (sp?)
I use about 75 gallons/year... keeps everything in check before I need to bring out the saws and brush hog.

I’ve found if I plow all the snow into the woods it takes the leaves with it. And most of the lawn too which cuts down on that grass cutting thing.
There’s always an easier way to solve these little problems in life ;) :)

That’s a good looking place. Looks like your hoarding has been going well. How big is your woodlot there?

Thanks... 20 acres. I have plenty of wood! Just dealing with trees that fall over usually.

It sure does feel good when you get something done that's on your list! I think it looks "ship shape" because it's all mowed and weed whacked, I should have taken a before pic when it was all 2 feet high... :)
