A few days ago, I posted in the Prayers section for a local man who died cutting a tree. Just had a conversation with the Coroner. Apparently, he and his wife were cutting on a tree. He saw a large branch was about to fall. He gave her a push and told her it was coming down. The branch hit the ground, and struck him when it bounce up. He was in his early seventies.

Heck of a thing to have a spouse witness. We all must take special care with this stuff.

We have had fatalities and near misses in our area over the years. Often they involve trimming from a ladder. Always hard on the family and the community.

RIP. My wife's great uncle was killed felling a tree. Not sure of the specifics as it was before we started dating 10 years ago or more. But I dont know that he was an experienced feller.
I also had a neighbor in N.C who after retiring from the military ran a tree removal business with a friend of his and his friend was killed. If I remember correctly tied off heavy branch was above him and when he cut it swung down instead of out and hit him. I try to only fell when someone else is there as well, especially since it is almost always just my 2 year old son and I around the house. Be safe gents
