This 20' tall statue (24' including the base) is by the entrance of a door shop in Cheshire, CT. Turns out is was repurposed from a circa 1960's car repair chain in which he was holding a muffler as i was told. Im told there are roughly 300 across the US yet. Door shop owner was an old high school friend of mine.
We have pics of both our girls when they were tiny babies in front of Paul up in Bemidji MN. Great memories
Sort of. Almost 10 and 5. The 5er loves to help and is always interested. Her favorite thing is loading the wood box with me. The eldest will help deliver when I occasionally sell split wood, she gets $5 for the job.
Well John, you just proved to us that you need some new glasses! lol I've been a fan of Paul Bunion since I was a kid. We used to have a couple places in MI with statues but its been a long time since I was by one of them so I don't know if they still exist or not. But I'll never forget the feelings I got when I read those books about him. Perhaps that is one reason I love the north woods.
Town of Wabeno Wi has one but they call him Larry the Log Roller. Stands in front of a logging museum. Not too far from there near Lakewood Wi a campground has a Babe statue. Been there for over 40 years.
