Yesterday evening I went to the house I've been working on to cut the grass before the renters move in. Got 90% done when the engine in the old Murray blew up. The level of emotion was equal to the Old Man discovering his major award leg lamp was destroyed. For being 20 years old with minimal maintenance, it's been a handy backup mower. Going to start looking for a new engine.

 

This was the task. All my hives died last winter except this one. More pics to follow. We took 2 supers full of honey and left the bees one. It appears we are between 4 and 5 gallons from just the 2. My best harvest ever!

Lol do the dogs know to stay away from the hives when you go? The hives that died off do you have to purchase new bees or will wild honey bees take over. What do you do with all the cones and honey you get?

 

I put them in the garage when I robbed them, they are just too curious. Well, I’m running away to Florida. My buddy is buying new bees in spring. Once we get all the honey out of the comb we give them back to the bees. They are real efficient at cleaning up the mess. I give all my honey away to friends.

Harbor Freight? Or just get another free or almost free motor to swap off of.

Those motors almost never blow up, usually the rest of the mower tears up from around it.

 

How does it taste? What kind of flowers do you think your bees visited?

 

Very light in color. Tastes like the clover they live on all year. Delicious!

 

27 clean pints. There is a bunch to be drained from the caps we cut off. That will take a few days.

There was a comb that fell out of a tree at the office from when our give swarmed and left. I ate a bunch of that stuff. I broke hunks off of it and chewed it up getting the honey out. I ate it till I was about sick from the sweetness. Other people at the office thought I was crazy for doing it. I said where do you think REAL RAW honey comes from? I said I'm not eating the part covered in dirt!!
