20190923_181948.jpg 20190923_181959.jpg 20190923_173925.jpg Found this nice old 8N with a fresh rebuilt engine & new clutch. Decent paint & everything works. Got the scoop with it as well, so it followed me home. The old M needs some valve work & I don't wanna be without a 3 point hitch........ or at least that's what I told myself. :emb::rofl:

Thanks, it really runs & operates well. I'm quite pleased. Hooked my back blade/skidding winch up & it handles that pretty well too. Now I've gotta decide between this & the mini skidder for this weekend. Headed to my son's cabin to skid logs in the deep woods.

Boy, looks like somebody did a real nice paint job on 'er! Would be a great parade tractor!
So how well does the mini skidder skid? Just thinking about the 8N being a pretty light machine...might be a limiting factor, depending on the log size and terrain you are going to be working in...

Reminds me of my grandpa's 2n. I used to drive that and do all sorts of chores up north with that old Ford.

    Nice buy!

Skidder is better suited to rough terrain, but slow going. It won't be replaced by the tractor. Tractor is faster & more versatile moving wood around though.

Sweet! I've spent many hours on a Ford tractor. I've also been looking for one of those scoops thinking I could make a good ballast with something like that but so far any I've seen want a fortune for one, even if they are junk; they are no doubt thinking they are antique.

That scoop is not even an old one!! That's a more modern one I believe.

I still am holding out hope I can get my grand dad's old FarmAll from my second cousin who got it almost twenty years ago. I need to call him to see if he still has it. I hope he does cause if he sold it (I really don't think he did) that's probably never going to happen.

I too like the old tractors. I'd like to run across a deal on an old 8N good shape would be nice but I would even like one in it's working clothes, with patina and oily engine and drips and all. Working condition though.

Yes, it is a more modern one than I've been looking for. But it would work well for what I want.

Just split he price of an 8n with oldest son ( he needs more than me at present) trip bucket up front, back blade , brush mower. I suppose for awhile I will end up doing the repair work when needed - but he will get edumacated on that... count on it! ( on quality tools as well). I have not seen it yet other than the CL ad - might have an axle seal leak - hard to judge in the couple ad photos. He wanted something simple- wrenchable and parts available. I am not crazy about the pto on those, so a ORC will be installed first thing.

Over Run Clutch. Won't allow the bush hog to push you through your barn wall when you step on the clutch. It allows it to ratchet as the Bush hog slows. Other wise the inertia continues to turn the tires like a flywheel inertia.
