I'm unfortunately not going to make it to Walt's this year. My a.c. in the house decided to take its last breath yesterday. Being 18 years old, and not compatible with new systems, this means I get to buy a new furnace along with it. I can't afford to take days off or to spend the money on the trip. You folks have fun and stay safe.
Don't actually "like" this post! I'm not familiar with a system where the AC and the furnace are inseparably tied together...you should be able to install a new AC unit in about any furnace that I've ever met...I'm not really an HVAC guy by any means, but I do most of my own HVAC work at home, and work. You very likely have a system with R-22 gas in it...that has been phased out and supposedly is no longer available as of Jan 1 2020. The new AC system just has to be compatible with the new gas (whatever that is now...I dunno) then they just plunk a new A-coil in your old furnace and hook up the new lines to the new outdoor unit. Now if you are looking for a reason to upgrade to a more efficient furnace, then that's different...if you have gas, consider a multistage unit...I have heard people rave about the comfort and fuel savings from switching over...of course if you heat mostly with wood, then get the cheapest thing you can find. My 2 ¢ if it helps, great...if not, worth about what you paid for it...
Well, the wife has plans that weekend, I'm not sure I can make it either, walt. I'll know more when we get close to that date.....
I'm planning on going to the Paul Bunyan show on Friday, and meeting up there with any FHC'ers attending. I will most likely be spending Thursday night in Erie, PA, or closer if I still feel like driving. Then follow the convoy Friday afternoon back to walt's, and stay at the Comfort Inn in Mount Vernon Friday and Saturday night.
I hope to see you too Dennis. Are you going to The Paul Bunyan Show? I'll make it a point to meet up with you either at the show or at Walt's before heading back home to PA.
Probably will be too late for the show so will go straight to Walt's. My son is here now and will still be here when I leave for Walts. His wife will get here the night before I leave so no doubt I will be leaving a bit later than normal, but I will be there.
As far as food, is someone keeping track of who is bringing what, or is it going to be more of a potluck weekend? A couple of people expressed interest, so I will be bringing some rolls of the used 60 mil EPDM rubber roofing that I bought earlier this year. Some of these rolls are pretty large...bring your trucks Also bringing a IBC tote/crate to go in the raffle. Maybe want to let me know ahead of time if you are looking for something specific size wise on the EPDM so I can try to accommodate with what I bring along...and for those who already paid for and/or reserved some...I gotcha covered.
Food wise, I am sure my wife will make cheezy taters and Baked Beans, and I will also bring some snacks as usual...oh yeah, probably a couple Blue Smoothies!! Look forward to seeing everyone!
