Has anyone had the first fire of the season?

Haven't started yet.. But I did clean the chimney and bring in two stove loads of pine this afternoon. Low of 34 tonight, may need some warmth in the morning. Chimney was glad for the cleaning - the cold starts at the end of last season sure didn't do us any favors. Did the cat and stove interior the other day, so we're loaded and ready if necessary. :)

Got down in the 40s the last 2 nights and house was 63 this morning. Might be time to shut the windows! The first fire won’t be too far off.

Still upper 80's here. No fire for the foreseeable future.

My wife has been running fires quite a few nights. I just got home from moose hunting, to a warm fire. D55E95D3-EDC3-47BF-9ACA-70D1905E045F.jpeg

Ugh by Monday morning they say we could have close to 3 more inches. I'm guessing I'll be dealing with more flooded roads on my commute to work. The good news after the rain rolls through a cool down is behind it.

First...... & only fire of the season is a ways off here yet. 80F with a dew point of 76. Nasty sticky weather. Tomorrow's high is 72 & heavy rain. Will leave the AC on for now. Just way too sticky for me.

We have not ran our air conditioner for well over a month now. The house does not warm up that fast so we are still comfortable without the air. I like it that way and so does the electric bill. Just paid another $45 bill. I like that.

I thought we would burn some this week but looking at the long range forecast, it might not be until October.

Well, on a positive note...a good firewood drying day here...sunny, 90, low humidity, and windy...30-40 mph gusts! Hold on to your hat!
