Neighbor called & said another neighbor needed to get rid of some Oak. Eight big trees taken out & he didn't pay the tree service to haul them off. Took a friends Kubota & my dump trailer & got started. 1.6 Mile round trip. Heavy stuff for the little Kubota though. Gonna run my M over tomorrow after work. Hauled three loads & I bet there's at least a dozen to go. 20190917_193145.jpg 20190917_193141.jpg 20190917_193136.jpg 20190917_193207.jpg 20190917_193145.jpg 20190917_193141.jpg 20190917_193136.jpg 20190917_193207.jpg

Yea, there's gonna be some serious sawing going on this Winter. I think there's about 20 cord total on this site. Oak takes about 2 years to dry good enough for the boiler in that area where the trailer is in the pic. I'll cut it then split & run it out into a pile with the conveyor then stack as time permits.

Some nice big chunks. We shouldn’t be hearing from you anytime soon :)
Great score. You don’t see that everyday.

"No, just leave them. I know a guy who knows a guy...". The neighborhood must have a pretty high comfort level about getting rid of wood! What if you said no?

That there is some nice wood. That would keep me in firewood for 2 years.

The property owner put the word out all over. Several people said they'd take it. I guess one guy took one load no one else showed. Ed called me & we hauled three in two hours. I think this guy was a bit overly optimistic about what people could do with heavy logs. It would take several days to weeks to cut & move that pile without equipment. It's a lot of time even with hydraulics.

    SCORE!
I would of had to pass. With no equipment the oak would of been seasoned by the time I got done moving it

Where's the smaller, easier stuff to work with? It all get chipped? That's a good deal of big logs to deal with.

That’s a great score for those with the equipment. Like you said, still work, but a whole heck of a lot less....
