I think I'd make a jig to get those standing upright. I flinched every time he swung.

A 40 minute video on splitting with an ax? No thanks. But I have swung on pieces laying down before. Not a big deal, just watch your feet.

Same. Looked like a pretty good deal of overly speaking about something that usually requires it’s own learning curve.

Maybe for camping and bushcrafters, but not for the majority here!

maybe eventually, with enough jibber jabber along with some exploration and observational skills, he'll learn to cut rounds with square ends.
Like the rest of the civilized world has learned to do.

With a good sharp chain it just isn't that hard to get square ends. Not impressed either. I learned to split by practicing not talking.

I started watching but quickly found myself talking to the screen. I was going to address the obvious issue I first saw in that putting the wood on the ground means stooping over further. Do that about a thousand times and add some years to your age and he will quickly learn why someone a long time ago figured out raising your wood up on a chopping block saves your back muscles. But then I thought naw. Let him figure it out himself. I’m not going to explain it. I don’t have time for this bs.

I thought maybe if he wants some real fun instead of using an ax instead of a chain saw he could use one of those wire saws back packers use with a ring on each end....
