White substance ?

    I sprayed graphite last year around the door to cover the surface rust and now we have a white substance surrounding the door vicinity. Anyone know what it is? Is it firing too hot and the manufacturing coating is degrading? This is the Fahrenheit 50F furnace. I've burned some mixed corn with pellets last year if that helps any on troubleshooting it. Yes it's rusty inside, will spray Pam next spring:smoke:

    Did you scrape/sand down to bare metal before spraying the graphite? IMO, that part of the furnace probably only needs Hi-Heat paint. I used the graphite spray on exhaust fan blades, burn pot, etc., stuff that gets really hot.

    When I first got the furnace I sprayed the high-heat black paint around all rusted areas. Last year I sprayed some graghite around the door so the gasket wouldn't stick. Back to the sanding and paint again. Hard to get a OEM finish:confused: which is a lot thicker:yes:

    Interesting. I have an Eco65, never sprayed with anything and only heat pellets put through it. I have paint finish that has come off from the body above the door hinge.

    Just did a second coat but I think the OEM is powder coated:yes:

    I remember admiring your pipe on your last stove, looked OEM!! Granted it was gloss, not black. Too bad there is not high temp bed liner paint.
