It certainly is plenty bright here. You can read a book in the moonlight and see color. To bad it will drown out the shooting stars.
All clouds here, unfortunately. Didn't have high hopes for the meteor shower anyway thanks to Mr. Moon.
We saw it here. It was very clear last night and the moonshine was incredible. Like PB said, the moons brightness did overpower the shooting stars.
For sure the moon has been bright but not tonight. It is still raining and expected to be more tonight.
Big and bright today. I just got home from bringing a load of wood out to Los Anchorage and hardly even needed headlights. Though depressing that it was 11ish and dark already. Man summer is too short!
Ha! Me too. I was coming down out of the mountains with a load of firewood on Sunday at about 10:00 at night (right around when it starts getting dark here) and came around the last bend onto where the road goes through the flats for a few miles. Looked to my left and the moon was just clearing a ridge and it was friggin huge. There are a few fires burning around here right now so that gave it a reddish hue. Pretty cool.
Yep. I just assumed it was from the light filtering through the smoke but maybe it come's from some sort of atmospheric dust or something. Oh well, whatever the reason, the coloring was awesome. I'm getting set to go for another firewood mission here shortly so I'll grab my camera and try to get a pic if it shows up again.
Was a little too overcast yesterday evening to get a good view of the waning supermoon, but I did get a nice haul of lodgepole (my personal favorite firewood) out of the woods. It's no supermoon, but here's a pic of the haul with Judgy and Lexy making sure no one sneaks in and steals it from me. Oh, and as far as "supermoon" pics go, I thought about something a little bit inappropriate but wisely decided to keep it clean.
