First time I have mentioned this here but today marks 6 weeks since I quit smoking cigarettes.. So far so good.. Been a tough road and I do miss it at times and probably always will but knew I was pushing my luck..

That's good Ray. It'll be worth it. My wife quit many years ago and has never looked back.

Thats great to hear. I need to look into the patch again. You getting vivid dreams with them? How long you smoke for and how much per day? I've been smoking now for 22 yrs, more a day every year it seems. Im alittle more than a pack a day.

Good deal Ray. I'll add you to my prayers for that Ray. Those things led me around by the nose for many years. I finally decided if I can accomplish anything else I can sure beat the cigs. About 15 years a non smoker now.

Congrats and good for you. That is an accomplishment for sure.

Jan 25th was 2 years for me... Hard road to hold but well worth it.

I smoked for 16 years, which for some is a drop in the bucket, but it was just as hard.

I found a lump in my throat and thought the worst before seeing the doctor. Found out it was really nothing, but my daughter wasn't 1 year old yet and my son was about 10. So as soon as I seen/felt that lump, I dropped them. The thought of Death will make a man do crazy things. I have had a cigar here and even had a "smoke" one night with a buddy. But they just don't do it for me anymore. Although the weight gain is ridiculous. Gained about 35 lbs in 2 years....

Just the price alone is enough reason to quit. Here cigarettes are right around $10 a pack.

Great job! I quit 3 years ago this month and it can be one heck of an addiction to over come.
I used the lozenges to help and they worked for me. Everyone is different and you just need to do what works for you.
Keep in mind that you are not giving something up, but rather you are gaining your freedom (both health and financial).
Do what ever it takes, but don’t be tempted.
I wasn’t afraid of dying young, but what got me was what my life was GOING to be like before I died. I didn’t want to get my oxygen from a tube and all that if I kept up the cigs. Plus the extra money helped me buy my new saw. :D
I have still had a few cravings even now, but it gets so much easier!
Keep up the good work!

    Good for you.
Pay back will be many more heathy years .
Money saved will buy you a new saw & many years to enjoy it :) :)

Could pick one up now & enjoy it. Been 10+ years. Urge never gone.

    Again:
    Proud for you ! !
    Keep it up!

Ray, awesome news! This is great thread you started on a personal level. I have never smoked so I can't say I know what stopping feels like but I can imagine like any addiction it's got to be hard. Happy for you, and all the other fellas that chimed in on their stopping experiences too.

Great news! I quit 16years ago in Feb. I smoked from the time I was 15. That was one of the hardest things I've done. Still get the cravings once in a while but will never light one up again!
