Basically just a pot pie with no pan, best with gravy on top.
Not sure if it's just a State thing but pasty shops all over Michigan

I love pot pies, you guys are making me hungry! On my bucket list is the "Boundry Waters Wilderness Canoe Area". If I ever do make it up there, I'm looking these pies up. Yummy!

In theory yes, a pot pie "to go".
But usually it's made up of beef, potatoes, carrots, rutabaga, and if you ask the old Finns, the crust has to be made with lard. And most yoopers will tell you that gravy on your pasty is for trolls, yoopers use ketchup. But that's not true 100% of the time

Over here they are pronounced Pass-ty, Cornish Pasties are legendary in the UK. The pastry edge is crimped, apparently so the tin miners in time gone by could hold their lunch with grubby hands and not get the bulk of the pastie dirty. Steak and veg with gravy is the most common filling but my personal favourite is pork and apple. Try one if you get the chance :)

I love pastys, but they're a little on the dry side for me. Ketchup/catsup would be good, but I prefer gravy. Yep, troll.
