Looks like Menards picked up this line. Saw them on the Menards app. Dragging my feet on choosing stoves for the new house may pay off. Always wanted a cookstove…
Also their stoves are made in Quebec, but don’t appear to be part of the SBI family… For us slow kids who didn’t know.
We have a couple we like. Slight concerns that it’ll just be too big for the space. The Cuisitot and the Cuisiniere 3 are the most likely candidates.
One thing that strikes me is the btu output, yet they don't tell the size of the firebox. 110,000 btu on one of the stoves. That would seem to take a large firebox. So maybe thin steel to give big time heat for a very sort period. And would you want that much heat for cooking or baking?
I had to go to the user manuals and the Roby website for the best information. I emailed them a couple questions and the owner called to discuss my needs today. He recommended the Cuisiniere 3.0 for our house and also the outside air kit.
I looked out of curiosity and the largest stoves available through Menards are 3.8cuft firebox. Not sure if that’s big enough to claim 110,000btus. I assume there’s a calculation for it.
It's not...not even close. They are using the same ole creative math that everyone used before the EPA started testing everything back in 2017/2020. Their number is very likely 2-3 times the real world output (which is still a lot)
Wow! Maybe that’s why the owner was very decisive that if we buy to get the bigger option that we had considered. I’ll have to do some reading on heat output and firebox size. Guess you can’t take anything at face value anymore.
Just checked on an Englander 30NC. Had one in the last house. 3.5cuft and a claimed 75,000btu. That’s probably more realistic.

Here are the JA Roby stove EPA test results...nothing even close to 100kbtu (edit, well that didn't work...so just click the bottom right option (2020 results) then scroll down to JA Roby under the "manufacturer", it'll bring up the list...nothing over 55k.) Woodstove Database | Burnwise | US EPA
