Never tried one. Heard they don’t do much...

Used one didn't do anything. Depends on your setup I guess.

I'll stick to a chimney brush, it works and is reusable.

    I tried one years ago.
I didn't see that it did anything.

But, had to satisfy my curiosity.

Red Devil creosote remover (powder) gets great reviews. I’m using it now but won’t know how well it worked until much later in the year.

I used the granular stuff from Tractor Supply all last winter. No creosote when the chimney was cleaned this summer. But, the wood I burned was dry...

A buddy of mine uses one of the liquid products, recommended by a retired chimney sweep. He has an old stone flue that makes two 90s, then transitions in to an un-heated attic, where it makes another 90 before punching through the roof. The thing builds creosote like nothing you've ever seen where it hits the un-heated space. Thick, glassy, tar that chokes right down to almost fully blocked. Doesn't necessarily eliminate needing to sweep, but it works amazingly well at turning the creosote to a consistency that can be easily knocked out. Couldn't tell you what the brand is but sure I could find out if anyone needed to know.

Never used it, don't need it. Every year when I sweep it's just an 1/8" of dust on the sides of the pipe. Been that way since 1983.

In around 60 years of wood burning I've never seen a use for it.

Dry wood and as fox9988 stated, a reusable chimney brush will work just fine.

Burn your fires hot, let them burn down to coals and you won’t even need those. Burn some aspen or similar wood on occasion and you’ll have little to no creosote. Brush at least once a year and you will be good.
