Cool nights here. Started the stove this week. Burning through some short ends, just to take the chill out. Anybody else doing the same?
There are quite a few people that have started burning already. I for one have not. I had to clean my chimney before that could happen and I just got that accomplished in time for the weather to warm back up. It wont be long now though.
Not yet. Temps in the low 50's overnight and 70's during the day. That's the forecast for the next 7-10 days.
Yep, got another one going about 1/2 hour ago. Lows have been dipping into the mid 30's here overnight, and I'm waking to a cool house. Fires are just kindling to warm up the house while the outside temps rise.
Sounds nice Dave. That's the biggest negative I have here with my stove in the basement. Won't do much in a short burn. Love watching it tho. I have a lot of brush I need to burn in the pit... that's my fix for a while.
No, and tho I make BIG plans to do rough boards around the corner area where the stove is (just for looks)... I'm realizing my planning is always 10x what I'm able/willing to actually do. This is a basic small ranch and once I get things going, the Liberty just about drives us out. I'm not complaining... can always dial back. That's a gooder thing.
I have about 1500 square feet (1/2 of that is the finished basement ) and I went with the Endeavor. On very cold nights I wish I had the Liberty.
I really haven't even had the Liberty cranking over more than a couple days here yet, but it sure seems up to the task if needed. I bet we won't need it's cap most of the time. Bought it because I wasn't gonna fight with a small firebox like the Regency in the house we just sold. I also cut my rounds at 20", for the same reason. My #%^@#*% "dry" "ready" "to" "burn" firewood... I had to buy last fall... wasn't even close. I look at it now, and realize I may not be all that much better off this season either. It's 3 cords of maple and oak. Processed the morning it was delivered. Taken from the stump in the fall of 2012. Been in the shed since last fall. At least I had the guy split the oak into 1/8's so it'll help, but... we'll see.
We have had a few fires, south of us in Saranac Lake it was 30 degrees this morning, they have us hitting 28 on Thursday night. The Liberty will be digesting some Hemloak!
We have been doing small loads for almost a week now too. Its getting a cold early this year around this place. We had some light frost the other morning on the winshields.
figure i got at least another month before i even think about burning, i still gotta clean my liner, on the list for this weekend
