I'm sure this has been discussed before, but we have a few new members. Does anyone use their woodpile for other services? I give the lady that shaves my dog a truckload of wood each time. Also, a few years ago, I was able to "pay" for about $900 worth of construction work done to my house. Was a great deal! Anyone else?

Does building a fire to get cozy with the missus count as bartering?

I do remember a couple of times in the past that I did barter some firewood but that is not normal here. Mostly if wood leaves this place it leaves to simply help someone out.

I wouldn't say I barter on a substantial scale, it's a low-level trading with friends. If someone is having a backyard BBQ that is going to stretch into the evening, I'll bring some wood for the fire pit that will last a while. And that usually gets me my fair share of bourbon brought to me while I relax.
Also, I'd rather have my friends burn good seasoned wood that doesn't smoke everyone out. Needless to say most of my friends are not particularly adept at wood hoarding / processing.

Well I was just going to post something about this
Neighbor got a new fire pit and now is looking to me for campfire wood. I said okay the first time since I did run the triaxle down his driveway. However I’m a bit concerned since he asked for more yesterday. Im all about helping a neighbor but that’s my damm heat.
I think I’ll give him so white birch punky maple and some green maple

Time to for him to come over and process some of his own wood for processing.

A buddy called me over the weekend and wanted to cut wood with me to fill my stacks with the intention of getting seasoned wood of mine. (Just 1/3 cord for a fire pit per year). I'm certainly good with that arrangement but we'll see if he comes through or not. He's usually all about trading labor back and forth, but usually its all about him getting what he needs on his schedule and not much else...

No bartering per say.....I take a truckload to a guy I hunt on every year. He always says I don't have to but I just reply. I appreciate you letting me hunt

My recent barter (last fall) was our old stove to a coworker for some loads of Locust. He will make it right between us b/c he’s a man of his word.
