Cats seem to bring them to you. I had a tomcat who brought back rats bigger than a grill lighter . Snakes, well it’s a goner.

So it is either a black or rat snake. Either way, he lives on. Did not scare me and he never moved. It was pretty cool outside so he was probably sleeping soundly. Anyway, may he continue to eat all the varmits. Maybe I should have brought him to the barn as I suddenly have a migration of mice into the barn.

My guess was a black snake.
I was surprised one of your stacks toppled...til you blamed it on someone else!
Ran into several snakes this year. (Luckily no poisonous im aware of.) Dont harm them (other than PU for photo shoots) and let em go.

Well they left your stacks and headed for the barn. He may head there anyway looking for a place to winter over.

Black rat snake. Very good to have around, not only do they eat rodents, they will also eat other venomous snakes, like copperheads.

That is a good reason just to leave them alone. I used to have no tolerance of snakes. Still makes the hair on my neck stand up when I am startled by them. Haven't seen any this year. My son's husky won't tolerate any small visitors. Two days ago, he killed a rat. There isn't much he'll tolerate in his area.
