I did buy an extra chain, and the correct file. My husband does all the saw sharpening. He's going to order a new Timberline bit for it as well. I'll tell him about the bar flipping, he may already know. It sure did! It's down to 70° now, but I was loving it! Tomorrow is supposed to be warm, so I may get one more swim in before I close it. You are right, my receipt says warranty expires 9/3/21. BTW my salesperson was #42, didn't catch his name. He had his young son with him, looked about 5.
I got the big ones wedged in half... Off the grass and lined up in the driveway, near the splitter... And I ran the lawnmower to pick up the sawdust. Like it never happened!
That's fantastic Midwinter. Congrats on the new saw. I'm surprised you kerfed the big oak. Will you split it right away? IME fresh cut, knot free red oak splits easily. It's cool to hear you "chain saw talk" Oh, and you picked the right brand! Enjoy your new acquisition!
Thanks! I'm going to try and CSS this oak as quickly as possible, because I have sooo much else to do! So that means kerfing, using the splitter, whatever it takes!
Molly, I have "No Doubt" you'll get that knocked out! I'm so glad for you, and you know where more wood is!
Mwalsh9152 has been very gracious with his loan. I want to start going again when I'm done with this... and do some leaf-peeping on that beautiful drive!
I went down the rabbit hole and found a couple already named after Molly. Available in Japan only. Toyota Succeed Van introduced in 2002. Available in Europe only. Toyota Aygo introduced in 2014. Have to use this one in a sentence. "I saw a free firewood sign so a grabbed my sledge and wedge and off Aygo."
Good luck with the new saw molly! I see you're already wasting no time making your trademark pretty firewood. That oak may not be dry, but that looks like primo wood and gorgeous grain! You are nothing short of inspiring, but then again if all of us had someone to sharpen our chains for us there's no telling how much we could get done! Sorry, just a little jealousy on my part cause while your husband's busy sharpening your chain, my wife insists on yanking mine Yesterday after I was tired and ready for a nap but I tried to emulate you.... I thought to myself "what would Midwinter do?" So I visited the pallet lot to try my new demolition/dismantling trick. It was an improvement so that's good, but still a bit of bending over to set up the jig and sledge apart. It wasn't long before the sweat started to drip even though I waited till the sun went down (very hot and humid here lately). Maybe the pallet buster crowbar will be finding it's way to my porch after all? I'm still going to give this a try for a while to make sure pallet wood hoarding is something I see myself doing into the future. I will say I'm happy that this guys pallets have a good percentage of hardwood (Yesterday I got some chunky oak and tulip poplar). If it was all pine I think it would not be worth the work for firewood use.
