I pulled the cover off the American CLS 24 ton then changed the oil, I checked the level of the hydraulic oil, it was fine. The first pic is some pine that should have been split last year, pic 9188 & 89 are of a eyebolt we use to hang our Christmas lights from, the splitting in the next pics are some Sugar Maple mother nature put down. The whole pile in pic 9191 is Beech and the Sugar Maple.
Just a small tip when you decided to split, take a small shovel depending on your soil, once you go vertical you might need to dig some dirt out where the bottom hits the ground. The MTD 20 ton we have, when you go vertical the I Beam seems shorter so you hardly ever need to remove any dirt.
Both were storm damaged in last years wind storm, we dropped them last year but I never bucked them up until about a week or so ago. It will be shoulder season wood for 2015 - 16.
Please tell me you didn't split all that in one day. I'd be laying on the ground with the splits if I did that much in one day.
No, just the pine in the first pic and the Sugar Maple rounds in pic 9190. I still have some nice Cherry, Yellow Birch,Red Maple with some Sugar Maple still left to split around the house. It's turning out to be a good year for adding to the wood inventory, I plan on cutting straight through until the snow hits. I still have over a cord in the woods that needs to be stacked.
Once I get that pine stacked, I'll start the new stacking area with the Beech and Sugar Maple, the area behind the pine in pic 9186.
You got a map, with GPS coordinates to every wood stack. ? I'd loose track of what, when & where pretty fast. Good evenings work !
It's a simple system, on the north we have our best hardwood for the up coming winter, we have two areas, each area holds 3.05 cord of Cherry, I'm busy filling this past years empty spot, we have three other areas I call holding areas, I've got a good start on filling the third area. We also have two areas that hold a total of 3.66 cord of shoulder season wood, I'm busy filling the second area which we'll burn in 2015 - 16. If I have 25 - 28 cord come fall, that wOOd be good, if I could get past the 30 cord mark that wOOd be even better.
I think you could hold 3.72 cords of ss in that area. wOOdy, you have a ton of wOOD. No wonder you get all the wOOdswOman!

[/quote] We did some stacking today, the wife did the Pine early on (pic 9195) I hauled two loads of Sugar & Red Maple out then stacked it, I wanted another load out but the boss said the supper started at 7:00, I made it in at 7:05.
She started eating without me , she stacked more than I did. Our first year burning, because we got a late start on our firewood, she did 90 percent of the stacking.
The wood off the hill is out of the meadow, I took a total of three loads out this afternoon, once I finish this stack I'll be moving some Beech stacked in 2010 to this area. The second load from the meadow didn't fill the tub so I went down the trail so I could start hauling some nice Sugar Maple out, we still have 2 or 3 loads left in that area.
