I think we need Scotty, among other climbers, to chime in.

That right there is why they made battery powered saws.

I would guess a spark from the muffler ignited the scaly "bark" Must've been bone dry to catch that easily. I would've had an accident in my chaps if I was that guy! :faint:
Was that in your backyard MikeInMa ?

Ha. Oaks, maples, ash, birches around here. Only palms are attached to wrists.

I hate palm trees. They are always full of wasps at the top, they are always located in the desert in my area, again something I'm not fond of and they are full of water and sand. When taking down a palm you'll wreck at least one chain. The outside is like tinder but I've never seen anything quite like that. In any case I'm really happy to be in the mountains in the pines after watching that mess.

A spark from that chain could start it too

I heard there is a gofundme account where you can contribute to the guy so he can buy new underwear.

I didn't know if it was a muffler mod or dull chain that heated it up. I guess MM makes more sense

    A) Dave don't climb trees! "to old and fat"
    B) "if Dave did climb trees" Pant's would be full of $#!T by now!
    C) I pray he made it down!

Double braided Nylon would have taken a Looooong time to burn through, I believe he'd have made it down. In that instance, let's just say I'm sure he went down really fast. We used the same type of line in the Navy and CG, we used to use a propane torch to melt the ends after cutting even that took a little bit. Some scary stuff though..
