Second sowing of beets, spinach, buttercruch lettuce and arugula. Sown at the end of July after garlic were pulled, ready for salad greens now! I deep buried three large raccoons in this bed last fall which were shot under the bird feeders at our cabin. It seems to be doing the trick! Second sowing of zucchini at the end of July. They are putting on small zuchs now. The row of wax beens were planted in late May and are still putting out after at least 8 pickings. Sorry the pics are sideways, but it gives an idea of how things are going.
Very nice. I made a very large pot of hot sauce some years ago. I purchased the largest aluminum pot I could find for the task. I ground up peppers for an entire day. The vapors were too much so I put the pan on the front porch overnight so I could bottle the next day. The next day I went out to pick up the pot. The peppers had eaten all the way through the pot at the surface! The top of the pot ripped off and all I was holding was the handles and a ring of the pot. I had read that degraded aluminum causes Alzheimer’s so I poured the whole batch over the hill. Did you guys know aluminum causes Alzheimer’s? I heard aluminum causes Alzheimer’s? Is this Arborsite? Where am I?
Compliments of farmer steve ...... 43# s of roma tomatoes transformed into 16 quarts of spaghetti sauce.... 1/2 bushel of hot n mild peppers....mild peppers sliced into strip for sausages n such... Hot peppers will go into my home made chili this fall into winter..... We'll see if the boss has any xtra maters in the next week or so for canned maters..
Looks great bear. Did ya happen to get a pick of the hot peppers on plants? Mine are doing well in the pots but nothing like yours.
Yes.....Steve said pick some as we were walkin by....all the peppers were comin around very nice.... Also ....Steve was tellin me about tomatoe pie....once he told me the ingrediences...i had to try it.....THERE AWESOME!!!! The wife is makin another one today!!
My first batch of tomato sauce got a nice fresh basil in them but all my basil just exploded with bloom buds and turned yellow. I was keeping up with pinching the blooms buds off but I went on a little vacation and they partied hard. All 12 of them. SO much for putting some away again for Winter use. Next year.
5 weeks since pollination for the one on the bottom picture. Still haven’t gone in there to measure it. It won’t get any bigger by measuring and all I’ll do is damage. I’m guessing close to 300lbs. In the top pic, the one closest to me is on the same plant as the big guy. I measured it yesterday and it’s about 135. Last Wednesday it was 88. Still getting good growth. In the way back of the pic is another one on another plant that started way late but is making some good gains. Powdery mildew is starting to show its ugly head.
Nice! Unlike yours and Wolverines mine are all still green. First year I tried with the pots and will do the same next year.
I think we’ll try the pots. We have gotten peppers in the garden but they’re small and paper thin. Bell peppers that is
