Hey thanks Molly. I checked into that "Pallet Buster" and watched some YouTube videos/ reviews which were overall favorable especially if you wanted to use the wood as many are today for projects and rustic walls. Then I came across this video which I'm posting here in case it helps anyone. Seems like a good no expense technique and I already cut myself the jig/block pieces and will give this a try first. Thanks though for putting me on the investigation trail!

One more thing in case others here don't know this, but my wife was out near my daughters school TCNJ when she came across some pallet wood already roughly dismembered and couldn't identify the heavy red wood. Like a good partner she hoarded some for me and when I saw it I thought ...Mahogany? Upon researching I discovered its a foreign mahogany type wood called swamp mahogany (not a true mahogany). Anyway these pallets were from over seas and this explains the tropical wood, but they also had some stamps on them that I investigated. Overseas pallets must be treated for insects so no invasive species travel over to other countries. Some were stamped H T which means heat treated and that is of course fine to burn, but a few were stamped MB which I found means Methyl Bromide Treatment. This is toxic and should not be used for burning or wood working. Just FYI to the pallet people.

Went to move 2 rolls of chain link earlier. One had a baby tree come up with it, the other had a nearly full grown tree up though it Soni had to hacksaw it off. Low limber evergreen, not the most comfortable crawling under and sawing

Mom's boyfriend said his buddy might want it. He's gone to the cabin now, with him who knows how long he'll end up staying. If he wanted it that bad he'd have jumped on it when he first heard about it, so if he's not back or I don't have an answer by friday, Saturday will bring a trip to the dump

Well got the cleanup done then decided to “skid” a few logs. It was all the little 650 wanted but it got it done! Grunt grunt[IMG][IMG]

Wood always heats you twice, unless you rehandle like I do then it’s four or five times!

That's a good way to bust up a pallet if you are young and on a budget...but if you are over 40 and can spare $25, the pallet busters are faster, and no working on your knees. Guess you could do the same thing on a workbench though too.
Good reminder on the pallet markings...or maybe first time info for the newbs...

Quite right, except some need time to season, as HT doesn’t dry wood, just heated to kill insects.
Just wanted to be clear on that for our members, new and old.:salute:

Yeah that bending down on knees is one setback that comes with the low budget method. I'm going to try this out and see if my knees complain, but yeah the video shows a young dude on a perfectly smooth studio floor. This may not be so nice to do on say ...blue stone pebbles and may require buying contractor knee pads and then you might as well just spend a few dollars more and get the pallet buster and save your back as well.
I keep forgetting I'm getting up there in the years, but then I get these rude awakenings to remind me from time to time.:( It's because I have the mental maturity of a person in their twenties so I keep getting fooled:confused:

I love the videos of people on the smooth shop floors stating- "Yeah! 3 hours and done, piece of cake !" Uh huh..... and now, back to the real world...
I swapped out my exhaust on the F-250 from what was there, to a new MBRP 4" turbo-back exhaust today. Actually started yesterday, as I had Val available for a few hours to help with the install on the new downpipe. She was a trooper, helped position the downpipe and get the V-clamp in place before we called it a night.
According to "Youtube", I should have been done already, timewise.
Finished it today, about 5 hours to get it right. Had to cut out the "custom" dual exhaust , lose the spare tire, cut out extraneous brackets, etc.
It was so much fun, wish I could do this everyday.....
It's in, it's done, and it runs much better. Quieter, but quicker throttle response so I'm pleased. I'll just gimp around for the next week as I heal, office work makes you soft.

Off to work I go, Off to work I go. Well, after I get dressed, go for our walk this morning and have breakfast.

Actually made it into the sewing room and started a project yesterday. Got it half done so hopefully will finish it tonight.

First day back at school today for us teachers, but at least the students don't start till Wednesday so nothing too stressful yet. We just had to get our rooms ready and as always listen to the latest forced implemented procedures and practices that will continue turning teachers into robots and ruining education in this country.
But I digress...we also had to take a test to stay fresh on the latest sexual harassment and sensitivity offenses. Basically this is part of the agenda to make sure everyone is aware they have a right to be offended and victimized by anything and everything imaginable. I passed the test with flying colors! :dancer::fart:
I guess HR dept. Lawyers need to feed their families too  Such sad and mediocre times we live in, but I digress... oh wait, did I already do that?:deadhorse::rolleyes:

I would say yes. He goes to the store often. They have been there for a year. I had the artist paint the one of the store burning down. I was the A hole of the community for a while. To me it was part of the history. Everybody wants it now.
