With the weather being fantastic this past weekend and my Saturday opening up for me I figured I'd try and get out and hoard on Found a posting for a fella trying to clear an acre of land on his property (for his horses) to come cut and take whatever. Teamed up with my brother in law and went to it. Being the rookie I am most of what I could ID easily or worth cutting was already taken. But with the help of a few FHC members (WeldrDave Eric VW ) I was able to ID a good size tree to take down. Special thanks to those fella's for helping me out in a pinch Was looking to score some Maple so I could have to burn for next winter but I'll take what I can get!
That's a Beautiful score!!! BTU's man! Now that I saw the fruit, I looked this up in my tree book and went on line. What "I" believe you have there is called a "water oak" Tree! Again, nice score Brother!
Willow.... water oak leaves bulb out at the end. Willow oaks have narrow, pointy leaves. Had one in my yard til it died.

That is one sweet looking splitter at a great price, wow.... I'd probably have one by now Dave but my brother in law all but begged me not to buy one. He's got a PowerTek (20ton I think) that he is constantly offering me to use. Told me please don't buy one and spend that kind of money when I already have one and don't use it that much. Offered for me to come get whenever I need it and to even hold onto it. I even offered to split the cost of what he paid for it (he bought used) but he turned me down, so hec! I borrow from time to time and return it looking like new every time fully gassed up, oil changed, hydraulic fluid filled, etc...I'd love to at some point split and stack a cord of good firewood for him on his property. With that all said I still an itch to have my own and I peek at them from time to time!!!
Sure, understood! You won't have any trouble with a 20 ton. I look at them also from time to time but I defiantly have what I need!, a bit over kill also...
My oldest brother bought a YardMax 28, Half-Beam. We couldn't be happier with it! He payed and I store. He used it to split 3 cords from clearing a spot for his shop, and I will supply him with half seasoned wood forever
That one you have Dennis Should be in the Guinness world record hall of fame! I'll bet you can't count the amount of cord that thing split!
