Well I spent 8 hours working the mini honey hole and pretty much wrapped it up. Moved 4 PU loads, half cord each. Two were all splits, one was some oak splits and chunks. The last was some rounds and nuggets that came home. Lots if loading, stacking at my friends across the street, cutting, noodling and splitting. Ran two tankfulls thru the 460. The property closing is on Friday and we are leaving for Cape Cod tomorrow so I had to finish. I will post pics when my netbook is fixed. I use older digital camera to take them. Was a nice day...cooler, dryer, and mostly cloudy so I was more productive. I did move some last week and yesterday. I'm beat and sore. Didn't have enough water with me either. Yield for the score was 4+ cords.
Sounds good. Even I was a little more productive today. Nice weather I can push a little more. Had to weld up my splitter but I was back at it. Have fun on the Cape.
I hate when I’m short on water. I took an insulated container with me today and ran out too. Guess the ice I put in took up too much room. I left the lid off in hopes the ice would melt, but noooo. Weather was perfect today. I should have spent it on 2 wheels. I’m sore this evening too. I didn’t lift any really heavy rounds but I guess throwing them off the truck and trying to get them over the top of the pile worked my back. Darn oak is dense and heavy! At least you can relax now.
All of the wood I cut and split was oak. Last log was 36" I'll post pics when I can I reuse water bottles and fill 1/4, freeze then top off so I don't hafta use ice. Sometimes I'll freeze one bottle by itself. Always taking water for work. Dunno why I didn't take cooler though.
I dunno why I haven't done that! Freeze 1/4 filled water bottles, top off. My water has been getting SO yucky hot in this heat. Will be friggin 96 today! Humidity has been as bad here as I ever remember, what a yucky summer!
buZZsaw BRAD little sore this am? I sure am. Can’t wait to see the pics. Sounds like a nice chunk of wood.
I was at it all weekend too, landscaping, takin trees down and spreading mulch. One monster white oak on the back of my property was a 70 foot dead standing, beautifully seasoned piece of gold. Brought a few pieces in the house for a while and it read 180/0. Its gonna turn out to be atleast a cord or more, big heavy rounds at the base. Needless to say i woke up this am for work feeling like i was beaten with a bat. Pics to come later, my phone was temporarily missing thanks to my little boy. Weather was amazing too. I cant wait to get home. My wife caught me staring at all the wood from the screen porch and said you are such a dork. Yup and you guys know my response to her “ keepin that sweet a$$ warm one log at a time.
A little, but a good sore. It was actually a tad, dare I say, chilly out this morning. I stepped out in just shorts and wow. Welcome change from air you can wear!
Works great. Saves me the trouble of taking ice. Sometimes if I have just a water bottle I'll wrap it in my work towel to keep it cool.
What percentage are you back to 100. Id be the other "dork" sitting next to you admiring the wood!!!Woodwhore?
Sounds like a bunch of work got done. Nice job. Wish my day was as productive but nooooo, my morning had to be taken up by my real job. Was able to cut and move the mystery wood. Blazed a trail to get to bunch of locust. Was going to split after dinner but said screw it, and shot the bow instead
Normally my firewood making sessions are 2-3 hours. Given the situation it had to get done. See my thread "Working the mini honey hole" for the full story Biddleman
I still have to take alot of breaks and go back and forth from harder to easier projects. I would rate myself at about 70 percent rt now. I did some hand splitting of those giant rounds cuz i didnt want to try and lift them. I felt pretty good. A couple of months ago i tried to split wood and i couldnt so i was happy with my performance this weekend. I did clean up and stack alot of pine for the guy i work for PT. I css most of his firewood. I cleaned up all around the burner and put mulch down cus he doesnt get around so good so i made the area safer for walking. Thanks for asking.
