shoulder has been sore for a while, went to Dr. he scheduled an MRI. Well I went today and nope could not go into the machine. cancelled. Said they would do it by giving me a valium. Anyone here have any experience. Also apparently this is an old very small machine, which I would of barely fit in. Scheduled new appt at the new big machine??
Sorry to hear you had issues but your not the first and won't be the last. Sorry to hear about the shoulder. Hope it is nothing serious.
I don’t fit in small machines either , ain’t to bad in the big ones. Most will give ya headphones and play whatever music you like. I usually fall asleep lol. But I have to drive an hour to get to one I fit in. Wood always heats you twice, unless you rehandle like I do then it’s four or five times!
A little stiff when inactive and a click at a certain point. 60 years of abuse and it is the only pain I have. I figure I might as well get it checked out. Dr said x ray showed a possible spur, he made it crunch a couple times and it actually hasn't hurt much since. Dr said I am going to push on it and you try to stop me. He pushed and I about picked him up off the ground. Dr said damm youre strong, I said not bad for an old man.
Yes!!! Same problem when I injured my shoulder 10 years ago. They sent me in, I immediately told them to take me out. I never expected it, but there was no way I could be in that tube. I scheduled an "open MRI" a week later as suggested by the lady who removed me from the nightmare. The open one is just a top and a bottom and you can see out the sides, they had a window and could look out into the woods. That's the way to go. The open MRI went fine, no issues and no drugs. I don't think a Valium would get me through the traditional MRI machine.
You're supposed to see doctors for shoulder injuries? I know I have two torn rotator cuffs, no need for a doctor to confirm so I can just nope out of the surgery. They have been much better in the past few years now that I am not in a physical job anymore. Been dealing with them for the better part of 20 years
No.... You wait 2 months like me and most guys do cause it still hurts, and then the doctor tells you you waited too long and they can't reattach the tendons you pulled off.
Another option rather than open MRI and in my opinion is sedation. That is the only way they will get me into those things.
Not a fan of the MRI machine myself. I'm not highly claustrophobic, but more than enough to be a hindrance. I've been under vehicles doing work and find myself stuck and have to consciously calm myself and my breathing. Have had 2 MRI's, and all I can do is close my eyes and "go somewhere else". Hope they can get you in an open MRI machine, and that they can help with the shoulder.
Had one a year ago. The young girl didn’t know what to think when I asked about the question form. The part about having any pieces of metal in your body. “Does that include bullet wounds?” Apparently if there are fragments, you will find out. Gets hot.
they will mostly do an x ray first if that question is answered yes. not only can bits get hot but it is possible for them to start traveling.
Had an MRI 20 years ago in the old tube, it was just on my knee so didn’t have to go in all the way, never would have made it anyway!! I can’t believe how small those things are. Had an open MRI 10 years ago in my back that’s a piece of cake!
