Thank you all for the well wishes ! This decision didn't come lightly, but my family is behind me on this. Your support helps also.
brenndatomu - Yup, doing the driving school just to freshen up on my memory of stuff. I used to be licensed in Calif. when I was driving firetrucks all over the state, but that was many moons ago.
Marvin - Thanks for the tip on those YouTube videos, I'll definitely be studying up on them.
ABOrman - Yup, the pre-trip is what I've been warned about to concentrate on. I'll heed your warning. Reading up-again-on the procedure tonight.
Horkn - Dude, I've been burnt out on this for quite a while now, just had to finally make the call. Plus all the extra work on weekends, just got to be too much.
Backwoods Savage - Thanks for the offer, but I think we've got a full itinerary. It's only for a few days, but I'd love to meet you two at some point in the future. GTG maybe?

I think I should have classified what I was going after, that's a Class B with air brake and tank endorsement. I'm not after an OTR position, would be too tough to keep the stove going in the winter, even with a BKK. There are several positions open locally I have an interest in, but they require the Class B. A big plus for me is I'd be working outdoors most of the time. Office work ain't all it's cracked up to be sometimes. ;)

Had a nice little 2 acre fire here today, but plenty of rain last night. 'bout 500 yrds from the house as the crow flies, no worries though. Love that wildfire smell..

It does have a bit nicer smell than that. The last wildfire I smelled way out west had wafts of sage smell to it as well. That was in New Mexico though. Do you get that where you are Beetle-Kill ?

Verizon tower 30 miles from here went out. No cell service since 5:30pm. Somehow, we’ll survive. Or at least home WiFi will provide the bridge to the interwebs. :picard:

It started about 10am or so, didn't notice until the helicopters started doing water drops. I was only concerned because our wind was being naughty, pretty erratic and strong at times. "Spot Fires" are something tough to anticipate. Once the wind died down, I went to work.
The smell is a blast from the past for me. Sage, grass, pine duff, etc. I've always identified that smell as a "clean" smoke, something natural. I'll always love it.

Good luck BK! If your after tanker there’s money in it. Probably the most dangerous yet rewarding driving I’ve done hands down.

As for A it’s an easy upgrade if you ever get a local offer for work. There’s A LOT of local A and B home every day. I won’t ever do OTR again. Back in the day it was really the only way to get a start but today walk in and talk to anybody A or B with a clean record and you’ll find a job fast if you haven’t already. It’s mind blowing what doors open after a year or so with driving too. Loyalty pays off big time.

The industry is not short of drivers with over 100% turnover rate the problem is people sticking with the job driver retention.... If you can stick with one place for more than a year you got it made!

The one thing that makes the BS worth the journey is the freedom. Nobody over your shoulder and nobody to really deal with just get in the vehicle and get it done. After wrenching and managment going back was the best thing I could have done! Hopefully you feel the same...

If you want / need help I am here give me a shout I’ll be more than happy to assist where I can. I’ve had all the endorsements one time or the other so maybe I can be of help.

Also a VERY good site to do study on and practice tests is the truckers report forums they have a cdl study section that is the same as the state tour in using the same engine and questions in random order as well as a few other study guides. It helps a lot...

Pouring rain this morning so we went back to bed for the extra hour. Blue Jays lost a heart breaker last night in the 9th inning. Them playing on the West coast really messes with our bedtime. Usually the game is over by 8:00 PM not 10:30 PM.

Well Beetle-Kill we certainly wish you the best in this new life you are starting. May it be the best move you've ever made. And I agree about being outdoors. I worked both inside and outside. There simply is no comparison, even on those nasty weather days it is still better outdoors. I think that is where nature intended us to be.

Got the trailer hitch on so can now pull a trailer again. Today taking wife to hospital for some tests but other than that, not much on the slate.

A beautiful day we had yesterday and a beautiful night last night. Might prove to be even better today and tonight! The feel of fall is in the air.
