Certainly a unique solid steel union between the collar and the blade. Can't say I've ever seen one like that before. It almost looks military.

Trimmed up 3 big maples using my gas pole saw reaching up as high as I can which is pretty high. I then dropped two good sized pines, the bigger one being around 20” in diameter. I was able to use the forks on the tractor to pick up the tops and dump them in the woods. I cut the trunk into 12’ lengths and used the tractor to carry them across the field or down the road with the heavy ones to my processing area. Still one big ugly maple to take down. Lots of dead in a tree with 4 separate trunks surrounded by briars and vines.

Once I got working though it felt great. I’ve been piling up big knotty and rotten logs for my OWB. Seemed like today was a good day to cut them up and break them down to manageable pieces. Had some stuff that was over 5 feet in diameter. I know some of you love the big stuff but I’m not one of them. I’m happy to have gotten it all done today. Also had a big ash log to cut for my mixed hardwood.

If I get it I do but I don’t seek it. I generate enough waste wood to keep my house warm processing all of my for sale wood. Here is the pine from the neighbors the other day.

Yes I say no pine but if a log goes in here and there I don’t complain. He knows I love oak cherry and locust although oak is what I get the most of

Having the tractor really makes life easy for both dealing with the brush and bringing the logs home to cut right next to the splitter. This one log was long enough to cover the road shoulder to shoulder. Was glad no cars were coming.

Got the wood boiler wood split. Now the task of moving it under cover. Also did 2 splitting jobs that paid very well. Split about 5.5 cords of oak at two different locations. 759CF935-203A-4CE6-ACA9-87B0E0E51AD2.jpeg

Good deal. Make that splitter pay for itself. Those chunks ought to burn good and long in the boiler.

27BC3D60-B9F6-4F8C-9849-BCB6F7497575.jpeg Got the pine from the neighbors split. The longer and bigger chunks for the OWB and the shorter small splits are for the fireplace

Did you have to supply the splitter and gas for those jobs.
