My circa 2004 copper fire bowl bought from a big box store at end of season/damaged and/or out of box. The original grate has long burnt out an ive improvised with other grills/grates. Used 25% of the time to start the charcoal for the grill, but end up sitting by it or on the deck watching it. I dont burn "normal" fireplace sized logs just bark and hardwood scraps which abound. Pallet scraps as well. Its easily moved when mowing. Concrete slab is a central AC unit precast pad i scrounged and set at grade. Id make a larger one but yard is smaller, surrounded by dense woods and we rent the property. Pic is of last nights fire. Second pic is tonights.
This is after I finished moving the rocks with my neighbor's tractor, it made moving the rocks real easy.
Haha indeed. I just bought them today. We’ll see how they hold up to the weather here. *fingers crossed *
I have a the exact one only brown. Bought it in 2012 i think. Still good, gets a little oxidized if left out. Disregard the snake and you see it in back. Very comfy...the chair that is
Looks awesome, I just picked up a couple of those Adirondack chairs from Lowe’s yesterday. Not bad for $15 each. Got the family coming over today for a bbq, I will have the pit cranking later on for sure.
In the middle of this project so I’ll post more when I finish but for now you can get the idea...I’m kind of slow moving on this project. I just wanted a rustic looking firepit for the backyard that would remind us of camping—nothing too straight or level. Just used the materials available around where I live, including “soil cement.”
Is the soil cement like adobe? (not the computer thing) Neat looking project. Keep us posted Timberdog
No, it’s just Portland cement mixed in with soil and I add a little sand as well. About 10-15% Portland cement, maybe 5-10% sand and rest dirt. All stuff I had around. Actually hardens up just like regular concrete. Wouldn’t build a house on it as a foundation but for this it will suffice.
I have a few scattered around, but this is the one close to the house where we do most of the outdoor cooking. My daughter tasked with getting it going...
