I noticed it the other day on the upper flats. Can't get a pic for a few days. The ATV doesn't have rear tires at the moment. I have also noticed that don't have as many song birds as normal. Haven't seen any gold finches for a few days.
I mentioned in another thread (or maybe I was talking to my wife) that our lone Birch tree has been slowly changing for at least a week or so. The process is speeding up. Some of the Red Maples are changing and the ferns are going brown too. We've had a few nights recently in the upper 40's.
If I tried that you would be calling an ambulance lol. Heavens knows where my 02 would be since I carry it like a purse.
Saw a few leaves changing on the mountain today - I believe they were red maple. This was in National Forest on the Virginia/West Virginia line. Fall is on the way but that’s tough to remember when it’s 96 degrees.
I think they often get snow in August but never this much. I remember camping in August in Bakerville with my parents back in the 60s and we woke up to an inch of snow. A bit of a shock to us west coasters.
We see lots of signs of leaves turning. Not many in the reds yet but the yellows are showing here and there. A few leaves have dropped but not many. The deep greens are slowly disappearing too. It is happening. Along with that, have you noticed that the days are getting shorter and shorter? It won't be long now....but that also is what the monkey said as he backed into a lawn mower.
In this part of the PNW i noticed some small leaf maple leaf's on the ground, and a few in the tree that are turning reddish, plus looks like a elm a block away is really getting yellow fast. And, one tomato plant is looking pretty bad, but, the tomato's on the plant are starting to ripen faster.
The leaves are starting to change in my area. When I told my wife that wood stove season will be here soon she interrupted me and told me to stop talking like that. She isn’t as excited as I am about the pending weather.
