That's a good question. I'm not 100% sure. Someone more trained in ID might be a better one to ask. I should be able to get a leaf pic of the first load tree. Second load was dead standing. Bark looks same though.

You said it!!! I pulled it off the day before. Hearing of all this wood, I had to get it off. Boy was it nice not stooping over to stack it. These 2 loads are only the tip of the iceberg. I have a sweeet honey hole that will produce many more pics. Stay tuned, I'm just getting to the good stuff. I'm going to have to noodle the log, then buck as each round will be too dang heavy to lift.

Huge truck load after work.

 

I cut some more standing dead Ash to finish up with filling the basement wood racks. It takes about four loads on the short bed truck. I can't wait to get the F250 I've got coming. It has a full size bed and I'll put some side boards on it with a headache rack so I will be able to get a much larger load on it. My old Dodge is getting pretty rusty and the bed is starting to flop around a little more than it should.

The woodshed here by the house is full, mostly EAB ash with some Honey Locust that was cut in '18 mixed in. I don't put any green stuff in this shed. Between this shed and the basement racks, I should be set for all winter of heating. I usually light it up in mid- October and burn all the way through March depending on the weather. With an outside chimney, I like to keep it going once it's warmed up. I'm wanting to put an outside air vent directly into the stove's intake this year to see if that will help with the cold start draft. I also need to do a good sweep, gaskets, and full inspection. I keep saying I'll get to it tomorrow, but I end up outside cutting and splitting instead. LOL


OOPS, I forgot to get a pic till I had about a third of the load in the basement. This pic was taken from the basement double doors and the woodstove is just inside the door. The racks are right close too.

I'm buying it from work but they're having trouble finding the title... Corparate America today...

2004 F250 farmer special, NO frills, kinda beat up but only 68,000 miles. Comes with a commercial grade 8' snowplow with wings. It was well maintained but needs a little TLC. The bed and tailgate are a little beat up, but nothing that I wouldn't do...

I'm planning on making the headache rack and sideboards out of locust. Cheap for me, last a long time...

It doesn't look like much, but that was a 1/2 hour over lunch to clean up some limbs that came down in the driveway last night during the storm.


Lunch wood!!! Bitter Hickory. I've got a few of them by the driveway that are dying from the top down. As much as I hate to, I better drop them while they are still half live.

 

I got some lunch wood once...Now my wife will never meet me for lunch again!!

Definitely oak. I haven't split any yet. Was my old boss' property and he told me the tree service said some of the trees were black oak. I didn't get the red oak smell so that;s out. I'm not 100% sure if black as I've never had any before. Definitely not white IMO.
