You think I have an attitude problem? Maybe it’s that you have a perception problem!

A 1994 poll conducted by a church group shows that 10% of the respondents identified Joan of Arc as Noah’s wife!

We’ve all heard about terrible droughts, but one farmer said that a drought doesn’t bother him at all. He says that he plants onions and potatoes in alternate rows. That way, the onions cause the potatoes’ eyes to water, and that moisture keeps both crops plenty damp.

Well, Eye Declare: Why is a cataract in one’s eye called a cataract? Because things look as though you’re peering through falling water or a large downpour: in other words, a cataract! (Look it up in the dictionary.)

According to one veterinarian, you might eliminate fleas in your house by placing a few green walnuts under chairs, beds and around your pet’s sleeping area. Would it not be better to move your pet’s sleeping area outside under a tree full of green walnuts?

The difference between politics and baseball is that in baseball, when you get caught stealing, you’re out.

    The trump card
    By Pastor Matt Ewart

Some card games can be tricky to learn, especially if trump cards are in play. The trump cards have special value based on their suit. So if spades are trump, a low spade can beat a high card of any other suit. Until you figure out how trump cards work, the card game won’t make much sense.

That’s why I gave up on euchre and sheepshead.

The Bible is similar. There can be parts of it that don’t make much sense at all. In some places we might have questions about why God does the things he does, and we might worry that his character isn’t what we were told to believe.

But things can be quickly sorted out once you figure out what is trump. No matter what section you are wrestling with, there’s always one sure thing you can take away from it—one unbeatable truth.

The trump card is a Person.

While God communicated many things in many ways through several prophets, God laid down his trump card when his Son became flesh. Everything in the Bible points to him. No matter what, everything written somehow testifies to his existence or his role in your salvation.

So when there are challenging things in the Bible you might not understand, ask yourself this question: What does this section teach me about Jesus? When it comes to the Bible, the trump card is a Person. Once you know that, everything else falls into place.

Jesus said, “These are the very Scriptures that testify about me” (John 5:39

When you go into court, you are putting your fate into the hands of 12 people who weren’t smart enough to get out of jury duty.

All one needs in a talk radio program is a mouth that works and an audience that doesn’t.

Nobody is too old to learn, and that is precisely why so many people keep putting it off.

If lawyers are disbarred and clergyman defrocked, doesn’t it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked and dry cleaners depressed?

If people from Poland are called “Poles,” why aren’t people from Holland called, “Holes?”

If you pronounce 21 as twenty-one and 31 as thirty-one, etc., then why don’t we pronounce 11 as onety-one?

Would you call a cow that has just delivered a calf, decalfinated?

What did the little grape say when a big elephant stepped on it? Nothing, it just let out a little whine.

When someone says to you, “A penny for your thoughts,” and you then put in your two-cents worth, what happens to the other penny?

Why do they package croutons in airtight packages? After all, it’s just stale bread to begin with.

Do Roman doctors refer to IV’s as fours?

Do not look to the ground for your next step; greatness lies with those who look to the horizon.
    Norwegian proverb

I once read a quote by one Charles Kuralt. He said, “Thanks to our interstate highway system, it is now possible to travel across the country from coast to coast without seeing anything.” It seems to me that Mr. Kuralt would do better by keeping his eyes open! Of course, if what you want to see is cities, buildings, people and such, then he is right. I like the interstates because it reminds me a little of being out in a field or the woods, in short, closer to nature, which is where I would rather be than amongst people, cities, and buildings and such.

Thunder is impressive, but it is the lightning that does the work. Which brings to mind another thing that has bugged me since I was a little boy. Why, in movies, do they always have the thunder before the lightning? Another curiosity is that I’ve never encountered anybody else that has noticed it. When I say something about it, most people look at me as if I were dumb (although that part is correct).

    I've been cheated
    By Pastor Mark Jeske

If you manage to stay alive for any length of time, you will have been taken advantage of, probably numerous times. Maybe you were cheated out of a father in your home. Maybe a friend conned you into making a loan that was never repaid. Maybe you were set up as a sacrificial lamb in something that went badly at work. Maybe you are unjustly excluded and estranged from family members.

King David, when he was just the future king, posed no threat to the current king, Saul. He never lifted a hand against him, never aroused a rebellion against him. But Saul was so insecure and paranoid that he led repeated violent assaults against the young man. David keenly felt the injustice: “Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal” (Psalm 69:4).

Does it come as any surprise that our Savior Jesus’ path also led through unjust hatred? David’s words were prophetic for him, even quoted in John’s gospel in the upper room on Maundy Thursday evening. They are prophetic for us as well. All who follow Christ can expect to experience the same injustices and hostility he did.

Fear not. There is nothing taken from you in this life that God cannot and will not restore to you a hundred times over in the next.

If you just can’t seem to learn to do something well, then you must learn to enjoy doing it badly.

When all other means of communications fail, try words.

People usually get what’s coming to them, except if it’s been mailed.

Friends don’t let friends drift away
    By Pastor Mark Jeske

Everybody has a circle of influence. You can’t change the world or the country or your entire city, but you can make a difference in how certain people think and act. You are probably more influential than you think you are. People in your circle watch you all the time. They listen to how you talk, they watch what you do, and they allow you to offer advice on their lives. That doesn’t mean they always do what you recommend, but they will think about what you say.

You can’t believe in God for somebody else. But you can make Jesus look good to people. You can remind them of the shortness of life, the reality of hell, our need for a Savior, and the wonderful and complete work that Jesus did on our behalf. “Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” (Hebrews 3:13).

You can be there for people not just on days of celebration, but even more important, on days of loss. Pull, not push. Say, “Come with me,” rather than “You oughtta . . .” You can be respectful, compassionate, and attentive. People get tired; they get distracted; they let disappointments beat them down; they get depressed and give up. You might be God’s personal agent to give hope.

The Lord Jesus is going to return to earth at any minute. All of a sudden Today is going to become Eternity

I googled what does the bible say about being an encourager? Very clear, building each other up instead of tearing each other down.
Not just biblical, why that should be just good old fashion common sense right? Brevity of human life? With the mortality rate hovering right
at 100%. Lets say someone lives to the ripe old age of 105 now put that in the context of forever. Then even then life is short right?
Apostle Paul was so gifted at encouraging and correcting at the same time. I would encourage everyone before they dismiss the bible at least read some
of it. 1 Corinthians 1 and 2. Thank you guys for the encouragement

God has a history of using the insignificant to accomplish the impossible.

Of all animals, the boy is the most unmanageable.

Many people think they have an open mind, when it is merely vacant.

A fanatic is a person who is enthusiastic about something in which you have no interest.

Birthdays are good for you. Statistics prove that the people who have the most, live the longest.

Some minds are like finished concrete: thoroughly mixed and permanently set.

A coincidence is a small miracle where God prefers to remain anonymous.

    More of life’s puzzling questions:

How is it possible to have a civil war?
If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest have to do the same?
If the #2 lead pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?
If work is so terrific, how come they have to pay you to do it?
If you’re born again, do you then have two belly-buttons?
If you ate both pasta and antipasti, would you still be hungry?
If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done?
    Is a castrated pig disgruntled?
If the black box recorder is never damaged during a plane crash, why isn’t the whole airplane made of that stuff?
Why is there an expiration date on sour cream? (Or even cottage cheese!)
If most car accidents happen within five miles from home, why don’t we all just move ten miles away?
    Is atheism a nonprophet organization?
If man did evolve from monkeys and apes, then why do we still have monkeys and apes?
If a mute boy swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?
