Dennis has praised the 180. I almost bought one off CL couple months ago. Id like to have a lightweight saw for skinnies and limbing other than my little arborists saw. Possibly to even keep in the PU for those "unexpected" roadside scores where having a saw increases the scores yield! Yes, the heat does take away the fun factor for sure when making firewood. Stay cool and hoard on!
Nice looking pile, but smells like pee. I think if I could do this 3 more times I'd have a cord. There is quite a bit left at the site.
I scrounge some roadside poplar last year. As I was splitting it, it gave off an awful smell. I kept looking around to see who threw up. Just me and the poplar.
My saw is in the back of the truck maybe half the time im in it. There has been times ive wished i had it with me for that unexpected score. Ill load what lengths i can, but if i had a saw i could grab more. Since i got the new saw, it will be with me at all times come cooler weather! Did you finish up that storm felled oak Andy8850 ?
I’ve been working in several storm down scores, can’t even keep up lately, between the storms and the eab issues we have constant scrounge wood!!!
some good looking splits despite the smell. Dontcha wish all wood split that nice? Will you take the remainder or cherry pick (or in this case poplar pick) for the primo pieces?
seems like you folks in Jersey have had some rough weather in recent months. I watch the weather channel daily and NJ's been mentioned a lot. Mother nature gift to us hoarders. Stay safe and hoard on!
I hope the scounging makes up for the taxes, at least a little. No roadside scrounges up here to be had, it's all "by invitation only".
I'm going back today. There are at least two more trunks, one on the ground but resting on rocks in places, and one off the ground, elevated by the rootball. Plus miscellaneous chunks scattered about. It's good practice for me, I seldom have the chance to buck up a whole tree.
Thats a nice luxury for us scroungers for sure. Can you get some pics of "midwinter in action"? Love to see some! Be safe and hoard on!
