It will get better, ask the Good LORD to help with the craving, I chewed for several years, finally quit. Tried some later, HE had taken the taste away, it was nasty then, and was the brand I had liked.
Did you use Chantix? I did once and was surprised how well it took away the cravings. Problem was about 7 months later I was bored to death at work and bummed a smoke. It only takes one. Don’t let your brain fool you, it only takes one.
it is an expensive habit. My 93yo mother used to smoke red pack, non filter Pall Malls and quit cold turkey back in the early 80's. Her reason...two packs daily was getting expensive. Keep up the great work!
I have a cheater stick for when the craving is bad. Got a juul. Not good for me either but it's helping.
Seconding this, most of us here would use the wood work as their own gym. At least it’s somewhat free!
A big issue with the ecigs is that you are more likely to start smoking again. My 2 friends that were ecigging have both reverted back to cigarettes. Apparently that's a common thing. Best off to break the hand to mouth reaction all together. Plus all those chemicals is the e cigs are bad news. Probably wise than cigarettes. Find something else to pick up and putz with any time you get an urge.
Very nice Thor. Only bad thing is that you have to move the wood before stacking it. But, that is part of a good hobby.
Thor I feel your pain. I quit back 1990, 3 days after quitting someone broke in to my truck doing $400 worth of damage for a $50 pair of speakers. I made through that day without a cigarette so I knew I could do it. Many years since on occasion someone can light one up and I think "man that smells good" then I remembered why I quit and move on.
time is over. Now onto the dreaded clean up before . time. @Palletpete I'm very impressed with the CS-400. When it comes time for splitting I'm gonna put a tarp down like some of you do for easier clean up.
Thor, what was your smoking rate ..ie packs per day? Take the money you wouldve spent toward cigarettes and reward yourself down the road for quitting. An added incentive! A nice chain saw comes to mind! Nice looking pile of rounds BTW!
Thor I don’t know why I forget to do the tarp idea too but it’s something I should keep out back . A little sawing and you’ll have the stuff ready for fire starters if you do that sort of thing. Good for you on your quitting and Happy Belated Birthday!
Best and hardest thing I ever did was quit smoking! Welcome to the non smokers club! Hardest thing you’ll ever do! Well done my friend!!!
Thor I agree with buZZsaw BRAD . I had a really hard time at first, and downloaded an app which kept track of my savings etc. for me. It helped me save for a new scope, and it didn't take long, and that kept me going. (I was a pack and a half a day and it was $13.50 a pack when I quit.) Anyway, last week I was doing some cleaning, and found the old phone I had when I quit. I broke the screen and it ended up in a box. It turned on and the app still worked. I was pretty surprised at what I saw. I know it's tough. That's beautiful ash, and good luck.
Very happy for your great birthday present Thor. Happier that you are giving up the cancer sticks. I had a awful time with addictions including smoking. So thankful I have been given the help and desire to put that silly stuff behind me. Coffee and firewood not so much
Almost embarrassed to say. Got real close to 2 packs a day. Right about 50 bucks a carton. So about 150 bucks a month. I have been putting the saved money into getting rid of credit card bill. I only have 1 so by December it should be paid off. Thank you FatBoy85
Me too. Pot of coffee daily, even in hot weather., having my morning fix as i type! Never a smoker either. Firewood, well that varies. Splitting some red maple later and grabbing a PU full of the same from a score. Hoard on my non smoking friends!
