Probably but still hate that our dog took out one especially after she had been doing so good. I know the neighbor got my note but she didn't call me.
l think both of us should share some of the blame. Just hate having to tell her.

You did the right thing by writing the note. If the neighbor seems upset, offer to reimburse her for the chicken. But if they are wandering around the neighborhood for days, your neighbor may not want them anymore.

That is some Beautiful views you have there.
Sorry that Holly wanted chicken for a snack. She is just protecting her territory. If she had gone to the neighbors and killed the chicken, it would have been different. I've been down that road before, I had the 24 chickens in their own pen, cousin's dog came over, dug into the pen, and killed every one of them. He came back the next day for some small ones we had, he don't eat anything now...

Good morning Midwinter! I noticed you mentioned backing a trailer. The most common two mistakes I've noticed while learning is over steering and getting flustered. Hope your practice session goes well and you can actually enjoy a break from babysitting.

Oh, I guarantee you, there will be flustering!
It is kind of nice to have a Sunday with no babysitting.

Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a SPECTACULAR SONDAY. Another night of work for me. Hope to make it to church this morning, but we may have to check on mama. She called me @ 4AM this morning, hurting around her heart. The ambulance came and got her. They said her heart was skipping beats, took her to hospital. I was able to get my hunny on the phone and my sister, so she has company for now.
GOD IS GOOD and LOVES US UNCONDITIONALLY.

I totally agree with what has been said and I can understand you not wanting your dog taking one. If someone owns chickens and they're wandering well all bets are off. IMO all you can do is try and train her to be around them and not go after em

Haha O I get it. Backing trailers is all I have been doing for years and every once in awhile I'll see a new driver struggling and I totally enjoy those teaching moments. It really is a matter of break and follow. My suggestion is try going straight back to learn to follow when it starts to break. You can do it

Good morning everyone. It's crisp and cool here, feels like fall. The humidity yesterday sapped me, I moved some wood away from the splitter, and did some grilling, and I was done. Today we pick up the trailer at 2, until then I'll keep busy outside.
I've been pining to get more wood! Not much at the dump or on Craigslist. I want to stockpile some meaty rounds to hand split over the winter. Some red oak would be nice. Pretty soon apples will start to drop, and there should be some apple wood at the dump. Some homeowners get tired of picking up rotten apples. Mainly I'm looking forward to WeldrDave's cutting week up here. Every time I've wanted to go it's been too muddy, but it's nice and dry now.
    Have a good Sunday, everyone.

I think it will be a smallish trailer, and a couple few trips. It's not that long of a drive from my house. Thanks for offering it to us, it means a lot to me!

Thanks y'all. I talked to my sister, who is at the hospital with mama. Waiting on test results to get back, going to keep her overnight. Dr didn't like the fact she is hurting and she has a pacemaker.
We will go see her in awhile. I'll update when I know more.

My thoughts are like this... They are chickens, and easy prey... If I let them out of the pen, then there's always a chance that something can happen. Thats why I usually dont let mine out without me being around. Even then stuff has happened. I've lost chickens both inside and outside of the pen. There's only so much a person can do to protect them, since they are such a easy meal... You did the right thing and let them know. Hopefully they understand the full realm of the situation. Some do and unfortunately some don't.
