Well beings I live in Hell, I've had a fire before for Halloween and other times I haven't even looked at the stove till after Thanksgiving so kinda strange here... Believe it or not, it depends on the gulf stream and water temperature here. I am on a peninsula and many times if the ocean and bay water stay reasonably warm, it won't get cold enough to warrant a fire. If it's not below 40ยบ, no sense to it for me, I like it at that temp! I'll just crack on our small gas heater to get the chill off for a bit.
First evening fire usually late October. Could get cold suddenly or stay warm til after Thanksgiving. Not really a big fan of the heat and honestly not thinking of inside fires now. I look forward to the cold as its my favorite firewood making weather.
Thank you. I have been cutting, splitting, stacking, and burning for 13 years. I can't believe it took me so long to find this site. A lot of useful information.
Between November 1 to Thanksgiving. 90+ all this week. 50% rain tomorrow, dry the rest of the week and weekend. Welcome to the forum Howiff.
Thank you. I was surprised to find this site yesterday. It would have made my learning curve for the firewood process a lot easier if I'd had this 13 years ago. BTW where do you add the piece on the bottom of your posts about your equipment? I am interested to see what people use. It's nice to see so many people use Stihls and Woodstocks.
Oh man I don't even want to think about it yet. Oppressive 90's in se wisconsin but supposedly going to cool off this week. Muggy as a armpit this morning so far.
Welcome Howiff , glad you stumbled onto FHC, you won't find a better place. If you click on your name in the upper right portion of the screen and select signature you can add your googies there. Probably won't start burning full time till late Nov or early Dec. Like WeldrDave said we've had Thanksgivings and even an Xmas Eve years ago I was in a t-shirt and shorts. Hell, one year I put the A/C on Xmas Eve in my house, between all the cooking, people, and outside temps in the mid 60's house was steaming......!
Go up to your name in the upper right hand corner, click on it and go to signature. Click on it and follow the instructions.
Welcome to the club, Howiff . Sure is nice to have another JAWJA feller on here with me. I'm down in the mid state area between Macon and Augusta. Where in N GA are you. There are several members from GA on here, but not very active. Check things out.
