Now that the heat wave has finally broke I was able to get back to gathering some wood. I was able to cut and haul a few wagon loads of cherry after work today. Also dug about 50 pounds of potatoes from the garden. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ford101 , If thats the normal turf you going to be driving on, your stock tires will be just fine for your use. Just don't crack the throttle to hard! The ITP swamp lites will tear that up, "quickly". The rear tires look in fine shape and should give you years of use. Nic pic!!!
Haha thanks good to know. This is the nicer portion of the property which is up around the house. Back towards the woods where I gather my wood is not so nice. So far they haven’t gotten stuck though. I’m just nervous come winter if these will handle the snow and mud then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, after the tire talk in this thread, I pulled the trigger on a new set of rears for the quad. Went with the Kenda's Bearclaws. Should be here next Monday or sooner. Now it's decided it wants a new battery as well. Battery shows ~12.4V, until the fuel pump kicks on when the key is turned. Then it drops to ~8.9V. At least it has recoil start as well as electric. This makes three batteries in ~11 years
I throw mine away every 3 years wether it needs it or not! I'm "Not" going to get stuck in the woods somewhere!!! I do all my cars/trucks every 5 years. Reason every three for the ATV's is they don't get ran enough and cells will die if not energized in a period of time. I know some ATV's have a pull starter in "hiding" I think the recons do. Nice tires Chaz ! My FIL had those on his old Kawasaki, They worked fine.
Maxxis Bighorns are great multipurpose tires... they wear like steel, are great in snow, and don't tear up the yard.
I have a couple battery tenders for machines that sit too much at certain times of the year. Usually I pull the batteries and store in one place, hook up the tender one by one every couple weeks. Mostly for the mowers in the winter. Don't want to hear click click when it's -30 and I need the tractor with the snow blower. Even in the summer, during a drought, stuff doesn't get use enough sometimes.
Nice looking quad. I have a few friends with recons that just keep going. I had an old kingquad 300 for awhile it was a heavy turd to trail ride but with dual low ranges and front locker it couldn't be beat for a work quad. I'd like to find another one in decent shape.
What model atv do you have? Let me know how the new tires are! Pictures are welcome too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes they are! Hard core tires there! I looked at them also for my rancher but the price was a little out of my budget at the time, I settled for Maxxis Mudbugs!
Yep the KQ has a recoil start on it. Newer versions do not. 08-09 Suzuki Kingquad 450AXI 4wd, automatic, with locking front differential, heated grips, winch, plow, backrest. Financed it when Dad was gonna stop hunting due to knee problems. Thing is run nearly daily around here. I'm not complaining about the battery, just timing. Always seems that you purchase one thing, another problem pops up. Chazsbetterhalf calls it her chariot.
Original tires, no shame in needing replaced. Oh, forgot to mention, it lives outside year round. No place to shelter it yet.
Those tires don't owe you anything!!! I hope you at least can throw a tarp over that, it's a nice looking machine!
No, they most certainly do not. I actually have a cover for it, but it got annoying taking it off & putting it back on, so I stopped. I'm trying to square up funds for something a bit sturdy.
1484 miles, 545.1 hrs on it. Most all spent on this 22 acre property. Not much of this place it hasn't seen.
Looks really nice, and you certainly have a lot of good additions on it. I’d love to get me some heated grips for the winter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
